We just got home from NC. We got to our hotel (Harrah) in Cherokee Monday morning. By 7 we saw the signs the casino was closing Wed at 6AM. We planned on leaving Wed. Night. However, we got back to the room at 9 and saw a note we had to check out Tuesday morning.

This morning it looked like this:

My wife, youngest daughter, and mother-in-law all flew to Florida this morning. They got round trip flights for like $45 a piece. I’m guessing all airports look similar to your photo.

So far total 4 patient of which 3 have been confirmed. One pending confirmation. 

young healthy confirmed guy just 51yrs is in ICU on vent since last two days. 

treatment has been difficult with no consensus now and people trying different stuff. even those meds are in short supply. 

worst part is lack of protective gear for the healthcare staff. Significant shortage of masks even as of now. 

Shortage of tests and duration to Get result is going to be a bigger problem. As of now high clinical suspicion before approval for test, this means chasing and isolating contacts by test etc going to be difficult. 
 

In short/ as of now patient volume not crazy yet/ But shortage of protective gear/ tests and medicines can be felt already. No way shape or form we will be able to handle the worst case scenario. 
 

as of today we are still not seeing a massive influx etc, this may be promising but also reflects some what isolated area our hospitals are covering. Roughly based on the multiplication time line may be need a week or two before our area is hit hard. Will know soon how real this disease is, how effective the measures taken has been, as in comparing cases keep trickling in vs mass influx vs not much at all seen. 
 

hang tight, continue to follow the recommendations. Hopefully this blows over in few weeks.

So I went to the store and most shelves are bare. Plenty of tuna in a can and Paleo mixes to make stuff. Lots of apples and oranges.

But, what happens if there is a mass recall on food due to salmonella? There is no food to replace it and would we know before a bunch of people are sick?

It's feast or famine I guess. I hear people saying this. But the store I want to yesterday was shelving TP and all milk options except skim gallon. all canned veggies stocked except peas, frozen pizza was down to a few brands, all in the morning. I think certain neighborhoods have more households per store.

There is no shortages of anything except TP and hand sanitizer. This is a logistics and stocking issue due to the high demand. It will pass soon as people get done stocking up.

I just got back from our local store and it was empty. I was told, when they open at 7 there is a line to get in and it is like black Friday. Everything is gone quickly. 

I like fish, apples and oranges. I just need Toilet paper (in the next week). Oh, we have 4 boxes of pancake mix (protein). No one buys the good stuff here. Lots of protein bars left.

It temporary. Grocery stock turns over quite quickly so shelves will start to fill up over the next couple weeks as the pipeline continues to operate. 

The stores themselves dont keep much stock so a sudden increase in demand will reduce the available supply short term. 

I would expect that and food born illness would be detected about the same as normal when the afflicted visit the ER.

I have read that at a National level there is no shortage of food.  But local shortages can occur due to people stock piling.  It will level off.   Food is still being manufactured.  Lots of companies that were making food for restaurants will have capacity to service retail...if necessary.

I've been to 3 stores in the last 2 weeks as recently as Monday.   Plenty of food was on the selves.  The only things that were out of stock were things like hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes.

My step dad works for kroger, they are rationing food due to low supplies in the warehouses and not being able to get enough to restock the shelves. He works in TN. and they are experiencing the same issues (empty shelves). They are not getting as many deliveries or as much food.

I am not worried yet, I have food for now.

Around these parts same thing, even beef and chicken is hard to find at the moment. I am just trying to have enough food for a few weeks in stock. I found that my local butcher was a good source for meat compared to the supermarkets and such. I prefer that anyways, you pay more but good a better product.

see young people planning to enjoy the down time, holidays price much lower on stays and travel etc, but some reports coming in shows even-some younger  people getting hit hard even if it’s rare. 

just wanted to highlight this from earlier post just in case it was missed in wall of text. Avoid any nsaids for the time being until more info starts coming in. When flu like symptoms and body ache starts this will be the first line meds we all grab, but as of now hold off. So far tylenol seems to be clear to use.

We are finally caught up on amazon stuff. But was hit with a influx of Heinz (which is way more than ketchup), General Mills, Pepridge Farms, Fritolay, Pepsi and Campbells (which is way more than soup), and still working on Chewy back orders. Also a customer that makes carry out containers and cups called Graphic Packaging is now back logged. We are working all weekend to catch up.
