Who has a Speed Triple?

i also 100% agree street > speed

mine was 2013 triple R, with abs  loved that bike. I 100 % vouch for this bike for you based on your riding preference. This bike is light nimble like a middle weight but being a triple has enough torque for that catapult out of corners feeling. Ergonomics is very comfortable, as long as road is twisty all day riding is no issue. At first i thought the naked version might be too much, but i started loving the naked version and clean air on upper chest and helmets so much that i started cutting down wind screen on sports bike lol

to summarize, Sweet gem of an engine, ample torque and hp,  very balanced chassis,  R variant suspension was good enough needing no upgrades,  stable in sweeper and easily flickable in tight spots. Reliable bike among triumphs, good aftermarket option among euro bikes, comfortable 1 up for long distance and 2 up for short stints.

you wont like it if planning longer stints of slab, might miss the top end of liter inlines. As in when it starts becoming more sweepers and as more straight sections open up u will top out the bike and pushing any higher feels weird since bike only weighs 400ish and direct wind on body all amount to an unstable feel if planning constant upper triple digit speed.

i test road speed triple and bmw 1kr naked before jumping on triple. speed was porky and bimmer was buzzy to put it in one word. didnt feel like the extra weight and porky feel of speed was outweighed by its higher power. You cant even use the extra weight for highways slabs since it still remains a naked bike with minimal touring potential. The advent of new street triples essentially will be a death blow to speed triple i suppose unless triumph planning revamp of the speed in future.

Triumph did a good job spicing up the speed triple with the 2016+ version, but it's still not really in line with the current crop of super nakeds. The 765 street triple RS claims 126 horsepower, which is only 20 or so down on the speed triple but it doesn't have all the excess weight. Granted, the speed is pushing 25-30 ft/lbs of torque higher than the street 765 but... 🤷‍♂️

That’s the kind of info I was looking for Nevin. I’m now looking at both the street and the speed. I like the idea of the street just concerned I’ll be bored with it or miss the power of a liter bike. I’ve not owned anything but liter bikes other than the supermotos for 12 years lol. It will be an adjustment for sure. Sat on a couple of both today. Both feel the same to me sitting on them. She likes the feel of the speed better. Says it’s the most comfortable bikes she’s sat on the back of ever. Only looking at R models in either. Guess I need to go ride them and pick one. A couple dealers around here have used ones. It’ll be one of the two just need to figure out what one.

What happened to that KTM you ordered a year or two ago?

Still not available state side. Dealer doesn’t know why. Their allocation keeps getting cancelled. I had them cancel mine and used the deposit I put on it on a side by side.

Thats why I’m looking for a used street or speed now to ride till the KTM makes a state side release.

Im going to go look and ride a street 675 r in morning and probably pick up and run it till the 790 KTM gets here and see how I like the street R by that time then either get the 790 or the new 765 Street R

Makes you wonder if there isn't some dude sitting at a computer in Austria clicking on cancel and yelling 'Fuck that midget!'

If KTM is having productions problems, they may be doing you a favor.

KTM makes great performing machines, but the ownership experience isn't always as great.

I’ve loved mine. The dealer has tried to get answers and they get no where. The 790 adventures are here but not Duke. They believe it’s a US Emissions issue but not confirmed. They’re out overseas with stellar reviews on the KTM forums but no luck here. KTM had one at the last motoamerica round last season for twins class testing and according to the demo emails it will be on the demo ride trucks. But not releasing for sale. I’m bikeless at the moment and frustrated lol.

Theres a 14 Street Triple fairly close to me I’m going to look at after work or in morning. If the woman is as comfortable on it as she was on the Speed I’m going to most likely take it

EU motorcycle emission standards are higher in the EU than in the US I believe. That is part of why so many cruisers are going away, they don't meet EU standards.

Quality vs quantity? We could quite possibly have more looser regulations requiring more documentation/testing/approvals.

Yea I don’t know. Their theory on that is because the bikes are here just not being released. He said their system shows them in California and has shown them there for some time now. But on hold.

Ok that extra info is key. Certainly some regulatory hold up. Motocat's theory sound pretty good now.

what year 675 are you looking at, and what is the dealer asking for it if you don't mind me asking?

14 & 15 R models. All at private sellers.

The Speeds I’ve looked at were at dealers

No offense ment but yours is way over priced. It’s a 10 with 23k on it. I’m looking at 15 R’s with 1800-3500 miles for the same money. Found several similar year and miles as yours for half the money.

Pony has a 12 Speed Triple with half the miles for only $500 more than yours.

Yeah I looked at pricing around the country last fall and what I had mine at was in line with what I saw, but those prices may not have been realistic. $4500 or so is about where I'm guessing it will land and I've adjusted my price this week in all the listings I have up. That's why I was asking.

I paid 4500 for my 10 675. Ohlins suspension, STM slipper, arrow exhaust etc.... it has 5000 miles on it. I feel like the seller could have got 5k out of it easily, maybe 5500 for the right buyer.

And how do you like it

Havent ridden it yet. I picked it up as a bike to coach on, but I have spent a decent amount of time on a 12 675R. Turns in really well, not as stable as an r6 on the edge of the tire. I have no street experience on one.

Are we talking full size passengers or is the baby back? 😂

Baby is getting dirty just sitting around the shop. Full size passengers only.

Let me take your woman for a ride to see how she likes a full size experience.

She is impatient, she’d get bored waiting for your viagra to kick in
