Cleaning leathers?

Recommended Posts

We haven't done a thread like this in a while, so what's your favorite way to clean your gear?

I've always tried to remove bugs with a warm wet sponge when I get home and put it away clean, but it doesn't always happen.

Just bought a new suit that is covered with some long dead bugs and the warm wet sponge isn't working too well.

Whats you're secret?

A washing machine does a fine job. After wash basic equate non-scented lotion for conditioning.

I always used the wet rag or towel. A good leather cleaner/ conditioner usually worked too.

Ben rides enough to have to clean his leathers? Who knew!

I put a lot of miles on my bike. Mostly on the brakes, but still miles nonetheless.

Wet races and sliding on asphalt seem to do the trick for mine.

I use warm water or Lexol cleaner and mink oil. I always condition after riding in the rain (once the leather is almost dry).

Or you ride in the rain to wash and the heat to dry... Watch for shrinking

Stretching is the big issue.
