You're overthinking this way too much. I highly doubt you are going to be pushing the tire to it's limits even if the age did effect it. It's not like the tire was laying in the back of someone's truck with water in it for 3 years. It's been stored properly in a warehouse, and probably in better shape than the tires on new bikes on the showroom floor.

No, I won't be pushing the design limits of the tires, although some cr*p on the road might if I freak out. heh

I think the new ones have a pointy-er profile at least. By the time they need to be replaced again, I'll probably want a different bike again.
