I really liked my Buell. :dunno:

Don't you also own a 700 or 900ss?

i've never really thought about it until now, but buells and ducs were somewhat similar while Erik was chained to the air-cooled HD twins. Internally, I know the engines had little in common, but same number of cyclinders, same basic configuration, air-cooled.

Trelis frame versus gas-carrying twin-spar(?), but both use different styles than the Japanese bikes.

Both brands handled better than they accelerated as well (on the air-cooled models at least)

i'm not that surprised you liked it. I would rock An XB9 if they weren't so expensive...

I had a 2007 XB9R. My 1999 SS900 would eat that bike alive in every single category, except service intervals/cost. They're not as similar as you might think, but I see what you're getting at.

I'd say that little Buell had giant character. I enjoyed riding it.

Idk, I thought the XB had more cornering capability.   The belt drive was just fantastic unless you wanting to change gearing.

Why don't more sportbikes have belts?

Very few use belts.  There's a couple BMWs.   There's a practical HP limit, belts are more expensive to develop, and you can't easily change the gearing.

...but they are basically maintenance free, and a zero slack drive is a wonderful thing.   Honestly the belt drive is the one thing I miss about my Buells.
