took the norton out, first time since the kickstand self-destructed. no fun riding it when i have to look for a tree to lean it against whenever i stop.

super slow. carburetors are lean on the main jet, good everywhere else. i need to look inside and see what's in there.

nothing fell off!

unlike you aholes I don't post here unless I've actually DONE something to my bike (oh wait...isn't this very post then hypocritical?)

Not for just purchasing a doo dad

And boy has the shit been arriving daily. Like a porn festival for everything DR related. Gonna be a fun rebuild.

Pauly, you're still my suspension guy. You'll do the DDC cartridges, seals, sliders and new springs up front.

I can handle the front steering and rear bearings rebuild, shock install, etc. Pretty sure I can do the cables, ntake, carb airbox exhaust, etc

Trying to decide whether to go with full Rally fairing with Vapor in the dash, or just a nice dash mount for the Vapor guage.

Got the new petcocks and o rings from Safari for the 8 gallon tank.

Wait 'till my posts then bitches

Hey! I can defend myself, it just takes me a little longer since I'm actually working on bikes in the evenings. :bigfinger:

I'm looking forward to seeing more about this build. Its sounding like that bike is going to be unrecognizable by the PO in short order.

Got my fuzeblock all wired up. GPS and fog lights now switch on with ignition. I now have a 2nd SAE cable coming from under the seat for easier heated jacket plug in. Overall, I think it turned out pretty good. I still have 3 more ports on the fuzeblock for other accessories.

So you created a single point of failure?

Umm? I guess if it fails, I won't have fog lights, GPS power, or a plug in for a heated jacket. Nothing absolutely essential if something did go wrong. The Fuzeblock has a dedicated power and ground from the battery, no piggy-back on factory wiring. The trigger wire was connected to the factory wiring with a pigtail rather than a posi-tap or splicing, so the factory wiring is still 100% un-cut.

Repacked my end can last night and put it all back together.  The perforated core had broken and fallen to the bottom of the can where the old packing used to be.  Made a sleeve to put the broken core back together and had it welded in.  It's ugly as hell inside but as good as before on the outside.

took the carbs apart on the commando to see what the mains were. i was reminded of an old norton mechanic i once knew who explained that when commandos were built, the factory hung the airbox up in the air and then assembled the rest of the motorcycle around it with zero clearance. i think he was right.

At the lock shop. They picked these panniers open and are re-keying the cylinders to match. So, Fuck you, Givi!

No giant sack of cash inside, but my OEM risers were in there. So, that's sort of neat. Not really.
