Buy a cheap rain suit. I got a camping type one for my very first trip down there and I used it on every trip I took down there. I even rolled it up enough to fit under the seat in VFR.

On my last trip down there we got caught in a torrential downpour all the way across the Cherehola which sucked real bad but we threw our stuff on the cabin heaters and were good to go the next day.

I've always wanted to take the one route Pauly likes through SEO, WV, etc that he breaks in to two days. Always looked and sounded like a ton of fun but due to timing I could never get the time off work and trailered instead

Yea that's a good idea. Also I'm waiting to hear about who is riding vs. trailering, meet spots for the ride down etc.

Cabin 507 Booked! 1 Queen, 1 Bunk, 2 Twins and a Couch. $800.60.

That should be a good cabin, the wifi is strong in that area. And with 5 people that's $160 per person,  now if we want to add a 6th and someone take the couch to make it a little cheaper that's up to ya'll but i'm good with the current arrangment.

Yes, I am riding down Will be doing so on the 250 dual sport though, so if you don't mind taking secondary roads the entire way, join me

Honestly I would die if I slabbed that far lol. I would prefer secondary roads with curves and scenery. What do you think your average rolling speed would be? I suppose its just as much about the ride there as it is being there... :)

What were your tentative plans? Dates times etc.

501 is where the shenanigans happened last year pretty sure it's in the OR block.

I've never ridden down before, what's it like?

I slabbed it down 2 years ago on my GSXr. I had a backpack with all my gear that I stowed in another vehicle that met me there. The ride down wasn't bad...but there was a wreck in the mountains, at night, and traffic was backed up for miles. That SUCKED. Having to keep the bike cool, stopping every 30 feet, and being surrounded by hot exhausts made me sweat. Then, when traffic got moving again two hours later, I about froze to death.

If I had it to do again, I would take back roads, and make it a two day ride. I don't think I'll ever slab that ride again.

Anyone have much experience with the Lodge rooms?  Looks like the way to go for a single occupant, and it looks like all the one bedroom cabins are booked.  Is there a separate parking area for trailers or just unhook and take up two normal spaces?

we did a lodge room for the women's sport bike rally event since they had all the cabins. I'm trying to remember correct but I think we just unhooked the trailer and took up two spots. But also think there may be parking up the hill near the lobby that you can leave the truck and trailer hooked up

Lodge rooms are very nice, they are just up the hill and a bit of a walk or a short ride over ti the cabin area. It's a large compound plenty of places to park just the trailer or leave it hooked to the tow vehicle.

I've got till the end of the month to figure mine out. I get 4 weeks, taking the family to Destin Fl in May, me and the mrs. have a cruise booked for October so that leaves 2 weeks of moto touring to fit in. Got some ideas but nothing set in stone yet.
