These little buggers are cool as shit and should give GoPro a run for their money;

The 360 view is kinda weird, but imagine it on a race bike. See passes develop and occur, see action behind and in front - would be very cool indeed.

Cost is supposed to be $400 or so. Hope to get one once available.

That is pretty cool. The only problem is, you can't watch the video on your tv and anyone wanting to view it will need the right software to watch it.

You probably can chromecast it to your tv through your phone or laptop. They just updated their app to allow casting of exactly what's being viewed on your phone to your tv. In app / homescreen / whatever.

Editing the video is what would make it exceptional. To be able to pan thru a shot as you pass or get passed on the track, pan to the side as you pass cool landscape, etc would be awesome

This......definitely a cool concept compared to the other mfg's out there

The issue will be resolution at the horizon.  They are de-warping a fisheye lens and they still only have a set resolution to play with.  That 1080p (for example) has to be shared across the entire 360fov, which is going to result in a much lower resolution at any given viewing angle.

In other news, I came up with this concept 6 years ago.

If you insist on a car-based camera that can capture license plates at any angle then you could try a hi-megapixel camera with a fisheye lens looking directly up. Then you could use dewarping software to 'fold' the image back to a normal viewing angle and the megapixel resolution might let you 'zoom in' and read the plate. Dunno if this can even be done, but it's an interesting idea.
