We have been focused on the failure known as Obamacare, lets shift our focus shall we. The Repubs have their own epic failure going on too. You remember, they passed all these voter id laws so they can keep people of color from voting?

You guessed it. Fail.

Yep, they failed... doesn't mean they won't keep trying to suppress minority votes, and gerrymander their way to winning as many elections as possible.

I would love to discuss this further with you, but I need to get outside and beat up some homeless people. Bonus points if they are gay homeless people. Jackpot if they are African American Gay Homeless people. That will look good on my conservative resume.

That was the whole point...FOX NEWS even says this shit doesn't happen, and they are the denizens of bullshit mountain...they are the bullshit mountain spin machine... and even FOX NEWS is having a hard time justifying this bullshit as legitimate...

In person voter fraud doesn't happen...and these types of voter ID laws don't effect absentee voter fraud, which while it's still not a very common occurrence, is a bigger problem than in person voter fraud.

Yes it does happen. Right here in the great state of Ohio.

Now that we have established that it does happen, and as you have repeatably said these voter ID laws don't hurt anything I am assuming you will be changing your position on this issue?

I think the goal of voter suppression is more long term. It appears that the voter ID laws have stirred up the minority vote. It's likely that the 'rage' will subside. Whether or not it makes a difference long term has yet to be answered.

I think most pushing these laws aren't truly trying to stop fraud. They are way to political. If it was known ahead of time that it would cause votes for the other side, they wouldn't have pushed so hard for them.

In person voter fraud has been minuscule at best. I worry more about vote counting fraud and electronic vote fraud. The scale and ease of this along with the bigger return on investment. I once audited some vote counting after an election and it amazed me just how ignorant the county workers were in general and how they relied on contractors and 3rd party firms to do almost everything. I presume my county is not alone in this regard.

There are more but I have pity on Caspers server

I wonder how you could fact check that to be true or false without any data? Not having data seems to be what the Democrats are after. A utility bill does not prove you are a legal citizen doesnt prove your not either. Wonder how you could tell? Interesting answer though.

A major probe by the Justice Department between 2002 and 2007 failed to prosecute a single person for going to the polls and impersonating an eligible voter, which the anti-fraud laws are supposedly designed to stop. Out of the 300 million votes cast in that period, federal prosecutors convicted only 86 people for voter fraud – and many of the cases involved immigrants and former felons who were simply unaware of their ineligibility.

86 / 300,000,000  = MINISCULE

Yes it does happen. Right here in the great state of Ohio.

http://www.wlwt.com/news/local-news/cincinnati/poll-worker-gets-5year-sentence-for-illegal-voting/-/13549970/21014378/-/mwbbrsz/-/index.html

Now that we have established that it does happen, and as you have repeatably said these voter ID laws don't hurt anything I am assuming you will be changing your position on this issue?

This is pretty funny.  Obviously this lady is not very bright but that is not the funniest part.  Please click on the WLW link above and then check out this version of the story:

http://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/hamilton-county/cincinnati/downtown/poll-worker-accused-of-voter-fraud-in-hamilton-county-speaks-out

The WCPO version includes much more detail that I think we can all agree more clearly illuminates exactly what Ms. Richardson attempted to accomplish.  It appears as though she sent in absentee ballots for herself and some relatives.  On election day those relatives voted in person and THE EXISTING PROCEDURE/LAWS CAUGHT this attempt at voter "fraud."  I call is fraud, but none of the new voter ID laws address just this type of issue but you would not understand the real nature of this particular problem if you only read the WLW story.  This is also not surprising as WLW has a history of just this type of reporting.

I would reiterate that in person voter fraud is minuscule.  The case referenced above is not addressed in any of the recent or proposed voter ID laws as there is already a system in place to address this particular issue.

I wonder how you could fact check that to be true or false without any data? Not having data seems to be what the Democrats are after. A utility bill does not prove you are a legal citizen doesnt prove your not either. Wonder how you could tell? Interesting answer though.

In this list I do not see any convictions on violations that would have been addressed with the new/proposed voter ID laws.  In addition the VAST majority of the list includes charges not convictions and on top of that most of the charges stem from issues with absentee ballots where there is already a robust system in place.  This list does not prove that in person voter fraud is prevalent.  In fact it appears to prove just the opposite.  Remember, that we are all innocent until proven guilty no matter what Glenn Beck might think.

There are more but I have pity on Caspers server

I wonder how you could fact check that to be true or false without any data? Not having data seems to be what the Democrats are after.

I'm gonna shorten your list to those cases that in person voter fraud that would be stopped with voter ID laws.

Did I miss any?

Your listing proves that having data doesn't necessarily prove your point.

To paraphrase our President, If we can stop 1 fraudulent voter we have to try. Like background checks, voter ID does no harm. So we should try.

wait wait wait....

So you're equating voter fraud to gun deaths?

*rubs hands together*

there are 32,000 gun deaths per year in the USA, as opposed to 86 cases of voter fraud...

there are almost as many gun deaths per year in washington DC alone, as there are in person voter fraud cases in the whole country...

And at the end of a voter fraud case, you have an extra single vote (that accounts for statistically nothing, doesn't change a single race)

Where as at the end of a gun death you have a dead son, a dead daughter, a dead father, a dead mother, a dead sister...etc...

Now you tell me which is a bigger problem. A vote that essentially counts for shit, or a dead family member...

Please try and keep up, I am equating background checks to voter id. Background checks do no more good stopping gun crime than Voter ID laws do at stopping voter fraud. However, both are simple, no harm ideas that hurt nothing.

You keep saying "no harm" and "hurt nothing" but they do hurt those people who live in those population centers that wanted to vote, and now can't because they don't have a car, and have no need for a license. it's an extra burden on them.

What to background checks attempt to prevent?

What do voter ID laws (claim to) attempt to prevent?

Again, which is worse, a statistically irrelevant vote or a dead family member?

You messed up your question there, let me rewrite it for you.

Which is worse a irrelevant background check law or a irrelevant voter id law?
