  2. It seems like buying a race suit can be as difficult as buying a new bike, especially with the wide range of options available on the market and retail pricing ranging from $899.95 to $1999.95. That's we created this Alpinestars Suit Guide! Here's a brief summary of each suit to help you decide which suit is best for you. ...but first, let's talk about fit. One of the most common calls we get from customers who just tried on their new suit is that it doesn't fit right and/or it doesn't feel comfortable. More often than not, they are basing this on standing up in their living room and walking around the house. A race suit is not meant for either of these scenarios: they're meant for the rider to be on the bike and carving up the track. The first thing we're going to ask you when you call with concerns about the fitment is: how does it feel on the bike? When you first put on your new suit, it's going to take a lot of work and you're probably going to look ridiculous putting it on. We've all been there! After you get your suit zipped up, go out to your bike and sit on it. Get into a tuck, then position yourself like you're going to drag knee (be careful and make sure it's on a rear stand or have a buddy help hold the bike). Does it feel comfortable now? Is it hindering your movement at all? These are questions to ask yourself before determining if the fit is good or not. If you think it's still not fitting right, give us a call and we'll be more than happy to answer any questions you have or exchange for a different size. Ladies, we have suit options for you too! Check out all of the Alpinestars women's race suits here. Give us a call if you have questions about sizing or if you'd like to purchase a suit. 4. Hey guys, So I was hoping to get in a track day or two this summer. I was going to go to NYST with some friends who ride (and live near) there, anyways I was going to go on a 'Rookie Day' - they have like teaching sessions, plus you follow instructors and build up speed, have suit rentals, etc. Well, that kind of fell through so I'm back to lookin "local" and was wondering what I could expect from a Novice session at Mid-Ohio? I've been riding for about 3 years now, takin' trips (was at the Tail of The Dragon last year - was awesome), as well riding most days when the weather permits. Though I didn't want to just jump into the track, because I know it's a whole different beast. Thanks!
  5. One of the best armor vests on the market, the Knox Track Vest features their top of the line Aegis back protector, YKK zips, padded chest, and a vest that is removable and washable! Retails at $219.95, check out the Knox Track Vest on our website. If you have anymore questions or would like to place an order, give our sales expert MIKE a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 804. Is email more convenient? Send us a message through this forum or write to us at FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM, and we'll get back to you right away! Trusted by MotoGP rider James Ellison and Isle of Man TT winner Michael Rutter, the Knox Armor Vest is based around their Aegis back protector. The Aegis back protector is very unique in that it uses multi-link CE Level 2 protection that conforms and twists to your body. The honeycomb base on the back protector is not only safe but extremely comfortable and aids with airflow. Speaking of airflow, the mesh vest is breathable and moisture-wicking. When it becomes too smelly, simply zip it off from the back protector and throw it in the wash following the care instructions on the label. Inside the vest you'll find a velcro strip to hold in the optional Knox chest protector and a padded back spacer that really allows for maximum airflow. This is removable if you don't like the feel. The low profile chest does not constrict articulation and fits even under the tightest of racing suits. Best of all with wearing this full vest, you don't have to worry about the back protector moving out of place when you pull your suit on. Everything stays in place with the Knox Armor vest. Available from Riders Discount, the Knox Track vest fits true to size but if you have any questions on sizing, give us a call and we'll gladly help you out! What do you think of the Track Vest from Knox? Leave us a comment below!
  6. Right now is the best time to get ready for the 2014 riding season, especially the race season. There is a lot of talk about what everyone is doing to their bike over the off-season, what new expensive upgrades will be installed, and how we can squeeze out those last few tenths of a sec or horsepower. Well, I am now focusing on the item that is in the most need for an upgrade. The rider! Let’s just say that you just installed a new full exhaust on your bike, and you paid $1000.00 for it. What is that full exhaust really going to do, give you 1 maybe 2 more HP? Then you remap it so it all works and that's more money spent for really marginal improvement. I know lots of riders that won't even think twice about dropping several hundred dollars for a new exhaust or even thousands. Or maybe you want new lightweight wheels because that will help decrease rotational weight and make a big difference, but let’s face it, we are racers and don't want to spend $2K on a set of wheels! Plus me personally my skill level isn’t at the level to where I am going to notice a difference, and if you are honest with yourself the majority of us would fall into that category. Maybe you noticed that your new suit in 2013 was a little tight at the end of the season and taking out the back or chest protector to fit into it. Maybe you are thinking you'll have to go up a size or spend January thru April running hours on a treadmill to try and lose the weight. I know for me that was my situation this past year when I got back to the track, and I wasn’t too happy with that. What if I told you to put less focus on the bike, and more on you? Once I put less focus on the bike and more on my body, I was able to ride longer without getting tired, was able to fit properly into my race suit without taking off extra protection to fit into it and I lost 25lbs in the process. I don't know about you, but there is no way I can shed 25lbs off my race bike unless I spent a TON of money for custom carbon fiber EVERYTHING! So if you can relate to any of this, join me and some friends on December 19th at 9pm on how you can join in on a Motorcycle Rider Group Challenge starting the beginning of the year. This will help us all get started on preparing for this upcoming season and dropping some of those holiday pounds. Hear about a system that has worked not just for me, but also for AMA pro riders such as Jake Holden and other WERA championship riders. Also, in spirit of competition and our inner bench racing, we are going to have a grand prize for the best results from the challenge of a Moto Series track day, OMRL race entry, Iron Pony gift card or $100 in product. So make sure you join in to listen and get the chance to beat your fellow racer for a great prize. Join us on December 19th at 9pm from your computer at http://www.anymeeting.com/bncfitness and we will explain everything and answer any questions! Myself and Brian will be doing the challenge with everyone in preparation for this upcoming season.
  7. We're giving away five track days courtesy of Sportbike Track Time. Entering is easy. Post in this thread AND retweet the below tweet and/or share the below Facebook post. That's it. Five winners will be randomly selected. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151751176519276&set=a.10150378730364276.406158.123486174275&type=1&relevant_count=1 Typical legal stuff here: Track days are dangerous. Motorcycles are dangerous. You probably shouldn't ride them. Ohio Riders, LLC (and/or it's owners, blah blah blah) cannot be held liable for anything (like, but not limited to, accidents, stupidity, death, etc). As with all activities on this forum, accepting and participating in any event is at your own risk. Non-transferable. Rain or shine. Blah blah blah.
  8. Come one, come all! Watch, as I trample over TRMN8TR's dreams of being the thread starter for all the moto series weekend events. June 29th is the track day, June 30th is the race day. post up if you're coming, are thinking about coming, want to come but don't know how to get it up, and post if you're not coming so we can ridicule you into coming. As far as I know, trmn8tr and myself will be there. I hope to see the new noob racers there for this round, since we missed you last round.
  9. Buying a race suit can be nearly as difficult as buying a motorcycle it seems. And with retail pricing ranging from $799.95 to $2899.95 for Alpinestars suits, it is a decision that isn't taken lightly. We're going to go over the available Alpinestars suits to help better inform you on each one and hopefully allow you to feel more comfortable about your purchase. First, let's talk about fit. One of the most common calls we get from customers who just tried on their new suit is that it doesn't fit right and/or it doesn't feel comfortable. More often than not, they are basing this from standing up in their living room and walking around the house. A race suit is not meant for either of these scenarios, they're meant for the rider to be on the bike and carving up the track. The first thing we're going to ask you when you call with concerns about the fitment is how does it feel on the bike? When you first put on your new suit, it's going to take a lot of work and you're going to look ridiculous putting it on, that's a given. We've all been there. After you get your suit zipped up, get out to your bike and sit on it. Get in a tuck, get your butt off like you're going to drag knee (be careful and make sure it's on a rear stand or have a buddy help hold the bike). Does it feel comfortable now? Is it hindering your movement at all? These are questions to ask yourself before determining if the fit is good, or if the fit is off. If you think it's still not fitting right, give us a call and we'll be more than happy to answer any questions you have or exchange for a different size. Ladies, we have suit options for you too. Give us a call if you need help with sizing or if you'd like to purchase a suit. The complete Alpinestars' suit line covers a range of riding styles, from Sunday morning cruises to WSBK level race suits. First up is the Alpinestars Motegi Suit - Alpinestars Motegi Suit - $799.95 MSRP -- Entry level -- Motegi two piece options available -- Alpinestars Motegi Suit Full Review The new entry level suit from Alpinestars. This is a great all-around suit that is perfect for carving canyons or tackling a trackday. Alpinestars designed the Motegi with a less aggressive cut than the ultra-aggressive higher end suits, meaning that it is possible to stand up off of the bike without it feeling like a workout. This doesn’t mean that it is any less comfortable on the bike, however. The Motegi features durable Aramidic stretch panels that run down the length of the underarms, sides of the torso, crotch and back of the legs for increased mobility and comfort on longer rides. Available in black/white, white/black, black/white/red, white/black/red, black/white/yellow (pictured here), and black/white/gold Alpinestars SP-1 Suit - $899.95 MSRP -- Entry - Intermediate level -- Closeout -- Alpinestars SP-1 Suit Full Review The SP-1 suit from Alpinestars is a full-on race suit and one of our most popular selling suits. It's easy to see why they've kept this suit in their lineup since 2009. CE-approved GP armor is found in the knees, elbows, and shoulders and has the option of adding in the Alpinestars Bionic Race back protector and Bionic Race chest guards for even more protection. This suit is heavily perforated in the chest, legs, arms, back, and the race hump, and perfect for riders in the warmer climates or the humid mid-west climates. Available in black, or white/black (limited sizes) Alpinestars Orbiter Suit - $899.95 -- Intermediate -- Alpinestars Orbiter Suit Full Review The Alpinestars Orbiter suit puts an emphasis on providing a comfortable riding suit that can handle multitudes of riding styles. This suit is the best all-around suit offered by Alpinestars. Perfect whether you're just out for a ride, carving up the canyons, or at a track day. Alpinestars has accomplished this by incorporating proven protection technology with new ergonomic features such as an offset zipper and copious amounts of stretch material, such as across the chest. The Orbiter is available in the black/white/red shown here, and black/white. Alpinestars GP Pro Suit - $1199.95 MSRP -- Intermediate - Advanced -- GP-Pro two piece option available -- Alpinestars GP Pro Suit Full Review One of the first suits we see in the Alpinestars collection to have heavy influences from MotoGP and WSBK development. This suit has DFS (Dynamic Friction Shield) protectors in the shoulders and elbows. Whether you drag your elbow on purpose or by accident is your choice, but at least you'll be protected! A removable, washable mesh liner will help keep this suit fresh for long into its wearable life. Also notable with this suit is a 3D mesh sleeve and ankle cuffs for breathability and added comfort with gloves and boots. Available from Riders Discount in black/white/red (shown here), black/white/grey, and black/white/hi-viz yellow. TheGP Pro two-piece suit option is available as well in black, and black/white/grey, however it is not perforated. Alpinestars Atem Suit - $1499.95 MSRP -- Advanced -- CE-approved -- Alpinestars Atem Suit full review As briefly noted, the Alpinestars Atem suit is CE-approved. Not just the armor or specific areas of the suit, the entire suit is CE-approved. This is without a doubt one of the safest suits ever produced. Alpinestars has accomplished this incredible safety rating using high-grade, highly abrasion resistant leather with additional leather reinforcements in impact zones. Adding to the protection is an array of armor that use much of the same technology found in the Race Replica suit including DFS protectors on the shoulders, elbows, and knees. The Atem is a suit that, while expensive, actually offers a great deal of bang for the buck. There aren’t currently any other suits that offer this kind of high-end tech at a price near it. On top of that, we think it’s one of the best looking suits on the market! Available in black/white/red (shown here), and black/white and black/white/yellow.
  10. Add strength and good looks to your engine cases with these case covers from Woodcraft Technologies available at Riders Discount. Typically, OEM case covers are made of thin cast metal that’s weaker than these CNC-machined beauties making them unreliable in a crash situation. The damage can be more than cosmetic, with leaking fluids, damaged stator parts and a time-intensive repair that won’t be cheap or easy. Woodcraft products are not yet available on our website. For more information, call MIKE at 866.931.6644 ext 804 or send him an email – FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away! For example on a GEN 4 ZX10 the stator cover MSRP $209.99 and ignition cover MSRP $139.99. Woodcraft case covers are sculpted from 6061 billet aluminum, the one-piece design is as artful as it is purposeful and will provide additional strength to areas that traditionally don’t always hold up so great in a crash. Woodcraft Triumph 675 case covers are engineered for a perfect fit and will not induce any bodywork clearance issues at all. And because they’re made in the USA by Woodcraft, each cover comes with a replaceable skid pad that’s designed to take the brunt of the crash, leaving you with a case cover that’s much less likely to require a total replacement. And, spare crash pads are available in your choice of stainless steel (thinner, for race applications) and black, blue, red or clear finishes. Each case cover kit also includes a new gasket, so you don’t have to worry about sourcing any additional parts to get them installed. The finish machining of each case cover is brilliant and these will not go unnoticed at the track or on bike night. A look inside the stator cover reveals that all mounting points for the OEM hardware have been drilled and tapped. All passages for routing the wiring safely have also been retained. The arrangement replicates exactly the OEM hardware and wiring setup for reliability and ease of installation. Woodcraft crash pads are attached to the case cover with three bolts from the inside which helps to ensure that 1). The piece does not fall off in a crash and 2). That the pad can be easily replaced after a crash since the attachment hardware will not be ground away. Pictured here for the Yamaha R1
  11. I have multiple track day gift certificates for Mid-Ohio, I can't use them all because of Covid cancelations. My loss is your gain, selling for $125. They must be used this year!
  12. When it comes to full body protection, Alpinestars knows how to deliver the ultimate in protection and comfort. The new Alpinestars GP Plus Leather Suit is no exception. Constructed of 1.3 mm full-grain cow leather, the GP Plus is extremely abrasion resistant. Perforation throughout the suit allows for excellent ventilation. This suit is equipped with poly-textile accordion stretch panels on the elbows and back for extra flexibility and comfort, even in the tuck-riding position. The GP Plus incorporates Alpinestars’ exclusive Dynamic Friction Shield (DFS) shoulder and knee sliders, as well as removable, CE-approved elbow, knee, and shoulder protectors. The inside chest pockets come equipped with PE padding. If you're looking for more protection, the Nucleon KR-R Back Protector and Nucleon KR-Ci Chest Protectors are compatible and sold separately. Zippered calf expansion gussets allow you to adjust this suit's fit. The aerodynamic back hump on the GP Plus is perforated for increased airflow. Inside of the suit is a removable, washable mesh liner. There is an internal, water-resistant pocket to hold personal belongings. The collar incorporates 3D mesh for added comfort. MSRP $1199.95 If you have any questions about the product or would like to place an order, feel free to give MIKE a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 804. Is email more convenient?
