  1. Winter is right around the corner and unfortunately for most of us in the US this means we'll have to put away our toys for hibernation. But what is actually involved in preparing a motorcycle for winter storage? Some people are okay with parking their bikes for the winter just as they left it after their last ride and while that may work for some of the warmer climates, it's not recommended for those of us in the frozen north. There seems to be a lot of confusion as to what is actually involved in getting a bike ready for winter storage with varying opinions from every rider. In this thread you'll find a general idea of what is required to get your bike through the winter and out on the other side as good as you left it. We're going to highlight some of the best winter prep products here, all of which are available from Riders Discount. If there is something you don't see here but want for your winterization needs, contact our expert sales staff by giving MIKE a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 804. Prefer email? No problem, send us a message through this forum with the products you're looking for or write to us at FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM, and we'll get back to you right away! So what are some of the key winter storage products available to prep your bike for the cold season? Stands to prevent your tires from flat spotting, anti-freeze for coolant, fuel stabilizer to prevent your gas from breaking down, fogging oil to prevent cylinder corrosion, battery tender to keep your battery fresh, and a bike cover to keep your bike warm. Just kidding, a bike cover will help keep your bike clean and partially dust free throughout winter. One thing not pictured are muffler and intake plugs to keep pests out, although a couple paper towels stuffed in your exhaust and intake should suffice. Street riders likely already have anti-freeze coolant but it never hurts to give your bike a good flush and refill every year. If you have ran any kind of track time this year, there's a good chance you don't have anti-freeze properties in your coolant and getting it changed out is a necessity. There are numerous options available for anti-freeze and we sell them all. Pictured here is Maxima Coolanol. Engine Ice is also common and available from Riders Discount as well. Fuel stabilizer is recommended if you plan on storing your bike for longer periods of time. Now, regarding batteries, if you have a lithium ion battery, remove it, bring it inside, and store it in a closet. These shouldn't need a charge, however if you think it may, go ahead and give us a call and we'll get one on the way for you. If you have an OE style acid battery, plug in the Battery Tender and leave it. That's it. You don't need to remove it from the bike if you don't want to. One last thing, a common misconception we've seen is to start your bike periodically through the off-season and get it up to temp. You can look at it from time to time but you really don't need to start it up. Just let it sit and fire it up come spring time. So what do you guys and gals do to get ready for winter? (Be prepared for California riders to post up a witty remark about them continuing to ride...)

  5. Figured it's time to put my well used and abused V-Strom up for sale. I have 3 other bikes and just don't ride this one anymore. This bike has taken me all over the country, and seen both oceans. It has been dropped a couple times, reminder: a V-Strom is not a dirtbike. I'll put a full farkle and maintenance history on here later. More pics here: https://blue72beetle.smugmug.com/DL650/ $2,500 w/luggage+rack $2,000 without 63,XXX miles. Notable items: Happy Trails rack, Solobox aluminum panniers. Givi E52 Top Case Enduro Guardian Aluminum Skid Plate with folding highway pegs. SW Motech Engine Guard Corbin Seat FuelBot fuel computer MRA Vario Windscreen PR4 Tires with less than 2,000 miles on them .95 Sonic Springs up front, rear shock rebuilt by some guy on the Stromtroopers forum for fatties. Recent repairs: at 57,000 miles the chain broke and took out the stator and cover. Replaced all of those parts as well as chain and sprockets. Water pump was weeping a little out the drain hole so that was replaced over winter. Needs front brake pads, I may order those and replace them soon.
  6. Spotless like new Street Triple 675R. 3000 miles. Completely stock with exception of mirrors, levers, windscreen and gel seat inserts. Those stock pieces come with it as well. Also have a lowering kit and adjustable kick stand not installed but included in sale. Dealer serviced and brand new battery and Dunlop Q4 tires. Suspension just set up by Ryan at 28. Needs absolutely nothing and not a scratch on it. Never been crashed or dropped. I’m the 2nd owner. I just don’t ride it as you can see by the miles and would rather have a pontoon boat. That being said, that is the only reason I’m selling and the only thing I’d be interested in trading for. Clean clear title in hand ready to go. Listed for $6000 elsewhere. $5200 to ORDN midget lovers.

  9. Selling my Kawasaki ninja 650r as I have no more time to ride only 200 miles this year if that other priorities at the moment it has a clean title. It is a parallel twin. It has 22319 miles on it, a lot of those miles are down at hocking hills, I have had it down at the tail of the dragon twice and a track day at mid Ohio one time. It has been dropped by me and the previous owner once due to not paying attention at slow speed it was my first bike lol I also had a low slide around 40-50 mph on the right side 3 years ago Most damage has been fixed and replaced there is still a small dint in tank with minor scratching and some rash on the right fairing the back panel has been replaced along with the slip on, I fixed the front fairing but still has the rash as u can see in pics. I've done all the routine maintenance my self except for tire changes, valves probably need checked soon due to milage. It has a yoshimura slip on, a power commander 3 that has been tuned by dyno tune motor sports, R and G frame sliders, sport bars, puig rear fender, red LEDs under the fairing, 12v charger for phones and electronics, red rim tape, new grips and bar ends, it has Pirelli angel GT tires with a good amount of life left on them. I believe it had 1200 miles on it when I got it back in 2011, the rest I have put on it and haven't had one issue, it still runs like a top and sounds good! It's been stored in side under a cover when not riding, I'll throw in the rear stand, bike cover, wheel chock that's new and has not been used, bar holders to keep it steady if transported in trailer or back of truck, a tank and soft saddle bags. I have some gear and helmets if your interested I can throw in for little extra $. not really looking for trades unless it goes bang $2600 OBO for OR member got it listed for $2800 on creigslist thank you and yes my grammar sucks lol I'll get another one some day have met a lot of cool people I can call friends and had some great adventures with them!
