The Bell Star MIPS Torsion Helmet features a Multi-directional Impact Protection System (MIPS). MIPS is a new technology from Bell that is designed to reduce rotational forces in the case of a crash. Constructed from a mixture of Aramid, carbon fiber, and fiberglass, the Bell Star is a lightweight and durable helmet. Intake and exhaust vents work together to allow fresh air in and remove hot, moist air. This helmet comes with a clear Panovision shield. Bell's Panovision incorporates larger viewports that allow you to see more while doing head-checks, lane changes, or searching for obstacles. The center shield mechanism makes opening and closing the shield easy while riding. The Star's cheek pads and comfort liner incorporate Bell's X-Static and XT-2 materials, which are moisture wicking and antimicrobial. The new Bell Race Star helmet is identical to Bell's top-of-the-line Pro Star helmet, with the only difference being shell construction. Made with 3K carbon fiber, the Race Star is a lightweight and durable helmet. The Bell Race Star Tracer Black/White Helmet features a glossy finish. Equipped with Bell's three-layer Flex Impact Liner, the Race Star is designed to protect in three potential impact scenarios: low, mid and high-speed. A new vent configuration allows for the same great airflow as the helmets in the previous Star series with less outside noise. Together, the multi-position chin vent and removable vent plug allow you to aim the airflow towards either the shield or your face. Two exhaust vents, one under the rear wing and one at the neck, let hot air out of the helmet. This helmet comes with a "Panovision" face shield with Class 1 Optics. Bell's Panovision incorporates larger view ports that allow you to see more while doing head-checks, lane changes, or searching for obstacles. The center lock mechanism makes opening and closing the shield easy while riding. This common goal doesn’t mean that choosing a helmet is easy, however. The shear number of options and features can make shopping for one a daunting task. The Bell RS-1 is a jack-of-all-trades that comes from boiling down many features from the top-of-the-line Bell Star into a mid-range helmet. Air also flows through the helmet very well. The Velocity Flow Ventilation system is adjustable and quietly keeps your head cool. Internally, the Bell RS-1 is a comfortable place to be. The lining and cheek pads feel very plush on the skin, right out of the box. They also break in quickly. An Agion Antibacterial treatment helps keep things fresh, but the lining is fully removable and washable in case things get a bit too sweaty. The RS-1 comes with a clear NutraFog II anti-fog/anti-scratch shield, which is the same as the Star. The ClickRelease shield mechanism is also shared, making for shield changes that can be done in seconds. The Bell Qualifier uses the same shield mechanism as the rest of the Bell full face helmet line so you can use the Bell Photochromic transition shield with the Qualifier. This has a DOT safety rating. If you require a Snell rating for track use or your own personal preference, ask us about bumping up to the Bell Vortex for a cheap alternative from Bell with a Snell rating. Bell has released all new 2014 colorways for their Star Carbon line including this graphic from Chris Wood of Airtrix, the Airtrix Boogie. What’s most noticeable on this particular graphic is the mixture of gloss and matte finishes showing off the carbon weave underneath. The gloss red, grey, and silver graphics are separated by a gold flake pin stripe. As with the previous Bell Star Carbon helmets, this version uses an outer shell that is made from 100% carbon fiber. Bell spent a great deal of time engineering the shell to be not only lightweight and strong, but very aerodynamic as well. What they came up with was an angular shape with a uniquely contoured spoiler, both of which make this helmet extremely stable and resistant to buffeting. Air is also directed into the variety of strategically placed vents at the front in order to push warm, stale air out through the exhaust vents at the back. All vents are independently adjustable so that you can dial in the ventilation for a variety of conditions. Another feature that goes unchanged is the shield system. The Star Carbon uses their fog and scratch resistant NutraFog II face shield in order to keep your view clear. It’s also treated with a potent anti-UV coating so that you don’t have to worry about your face being burnt red after a day’s ride in the sun. Bell’s 3Mode Shield allows you to quickly lock the visor down, crack it open for added ventilation and swap out faceshields with no tools required. These visors have the same great benefits of the included unit, but also change their tint based upon lighting conditions. Made with 3K carbon fiber, the Race Star is a lightweight and durable helmet. Now it's available in the Roland Sands Design Chief graphic. Equipped with Bell's three-layer Flex Impact Liner, the Race Star is designed to protect in three potential impact scenarios: low, mid and high-speed.
