  1. this may sounds a bit contradictory at times but I think its kinda subjective... on one hand racing is racing and i'll do whatever I can to win i'll hold that gas a moment longer or wait to brake a hair later.... though I still do it knowing that barring any outside conditions i'll stay on track. have I ridden of track I certainly have I push my limits and have gone off the surface .. but honestly maybe 2 times a year... I will NEVER purposefully hold on to the gas or wait on the brakes so long that I know i'll wreck or go off track... if I go off track that means I was NOT in control and I wrecked... meaning even if I do not go down.. and I roll through and back on track. I have still failed and I "wrecked" this is unacceptable to me personally. As I told another buddy about club racing at our age (young assed impetuous 35) I am not competitive or young enough and chasing points isn't ever going to get me a ride that pays, so I do it for the fun, the camaraderie and the thrill I get from rolling next to another sharing the same. maybe that was a load of drivel but maybe it helps

  4. i will not nor ever hesitate to pay $600-800 or more for a helmet that does exactly what i want it to do... fit, finish and MOST importantly protect my head the best that a helmet can do... this is certainly not to say that $300 helmet couldn't protect me... this to me reminds me of a suit, cheaper works.. but do you want 1.0mm of cowhide protecting you or 1.5mm of premium whatever hide giving you superior abrasive and heat dispersion properties and your sliding down the road on all aspects of your body at blank odd mph i know what i would choose PS bump for Riders Discount offering a kick ass deal on my personal choice of helmet

  6. so this has sadly been put on the back burner for a bit while the race season has really crept up on us... we will be sorting through the 100's of pics and getting info together buuuut.... Paul of 614PaintWorx kills it again Flake for days !!!!!

No Tim, you can sign up in either Intermediate or novice as a new to STT rider. though generally if your new and make an account on the site or call in to sign up they will ask if you have ever ridden the track before just for safety sake to make sure a first time track day rider doesn't get out in intermediate. for Advanced you have to have a valid Expert race license to sign up in advanced for the first time ever at STT.
  8. max i see the opposite atleast in the toy hauler world... most of the time the older siding style tend to have bowing and leak issues at the seams... the 1 piece sides and roofs on the fiberglass do very well as long as you maintain them.. EG the roof is the most important thing to the life of the body.... seal it at least 2 times a year. cover it or store indoors during the winter and you'll be great bad things on both sides
  9. depends on the track and the org putting it on as there maybe more room on a bigger track for more riders per group... most tracks allow 30-45 per group . progression comes in 2 forms.. most of the time as you as a rider are doing well.. smooth, consistent good lines a coach in your group EG novice will notice this and follow you.(you most of the time won't know this as you shouldn't ever be looking back).. see what your doing then either pull in front and correct or adjust then see how you learn or just at the end of the session bring you in and talk about how things are going .. they may suggest a next group up bump at that point you move to the next group IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE with it.. the second is , you feel you are progressing and feel you are ready , then you can ask a coach to evaluate you the same as the above will occur... the coach will tell you to ride your ride don't change anything and then watch you and see how you do... at the end they'll pull you in then tell you what to fix and how first or move you up. this happens will all advancements do not get discouraged if the coach says your not ready, work on the points and address again... do not expect to advance a group on your first day! very very few do... stay humble always open and learning and it will come . register as early or late as you feel comfortable... most days fill up quickly once you get to about 1-2 weeks away... With STT if you buy the membership ($55 a year) you can pay for any day you wish early then if 1-2 days out you don't like the weather you can call in and get a FULL credit towards your next day! this only happens as a member its a perk, as well as breakdown day insurance and day discounts
  10. it certainly does... i at one point went into a long discussion about this.... basically, it would open up to all sports to be sued and possibly win for any injury or issue that arises on the track... and if they can sue and possibly win against the org... what will stop someone from doing it to another rider.... so long story short he is now on his 4th suit first was the track then he sued the county then mazda as the tracks title sponsor... all have been thrown out because he signed a waiver..... now he is suing the track day org Keigwins , a judge has finally agreed to hear the case next month... only because Kims high prced lawyer found a clause in the track to the track orgs contract that says the org has the right to inspect the track for any issues and have them addressed... from the orgs side those sandbags have been in place at their events for years.... as well as many other events... save for high priced races EG WSBK , motoamerica and big car series... the org says they have ran many years with no issues in regards to the sandbags... Kim states they should have let all riders know about the possible issue.... here is where it gets fuzzy.... kim says you should have told me (all riders) well according to the org and many other riders he was late to the riders meeting and wouldn't have known anyways if we did state it.... problem then may lie in the fact that riders meeting as mandatory and no rider should be allowed on track with out being there... so he was still allowed on track (i get how could you know for sure if he was there or not... you cant exactly take a roll call) a lot of problems arise if he wins... insurance rates raise the price of days to astronomical heights , insurance companies refuse to insure orgs officially making orgs responsible and many other unseen issues... track day and race orgs are sued on the regular... but 99% are tossed out due to the waiver... and rider acknowledgement of issues happen... but this COULD be a big issue
  11. well forest river pretty much has the general monopoly on trailers so even a lot of the brands out there are made by them... but they do have a lot of variation in cost and features... i personally wasn't a fan of and haven't heard much good come from their econo line trailers the wolf/ wolfpup and coyote... they look pretty good but felt and preform cheaply.. i liked a lot of the renegade and XLR series and work and play is what i own but I'm unsure if they make a TT
  12. i agree on money pits.. they remind me of a home... except they are built even cheaper... moving constantly and vibrate themselves to shit haha i'd keep buying them of course... you will have many options with a travel trailer vs a toy hauler.. layouts and amenities are easier to come buy with those... will say though at 20 ft you will actually be looking at a 15 or 16 foot living space trailer as 3-4 foot will be the hitch in the front... and even most 16 ft trailers fully loaded are around 4000-5000lbs on the low side... personally i don't care what you tow with... BUT you shouldn't ever load your tow vehicle past 75% of its total towing capacity... you will really strain parts... so a fully equipped ridgelines towing cap is actually 5k.... so 75% is 3,750 lbs total weight.... your rating showed will show empty weight and cargo weight added together is the gross weight... remember 1 gal of water = 8lbs so if available wait to fill your fresh till you get close to our destination as say you may weigh 3k with full water but acceleration and braking will slosh it around and strain parts and brakes more! and every single thing you put in the trailer... bedsheets / food / clothes / dishes ect adds to your weight
  13. are you looking for a toy hauler or just a living trailer? you need to know what all you want in a trailer.. then decide what wall you need as you will make concessions to get the right one at that size and weight what are you hauling it with... at 5k any 1/4 ton truck is more than fine.. just mind your tongue weights a lot of haulers can easily be 500+... they have trailer brakes does your truck have a brake controller..if not get one. run a weight distribution hitch helps control swap and manage handling better. length are you looking at 20 ft living space? or 20ft total length.... axels dual? what is their capacity. THE TIRES ARE SHIT , SHIT SHIT rated generally at 60-65 mph swap them.. Michelin makes great trailer tires with better ratings look at Gray , black and fresh water capacities, most trailers are 20-45 grey , 20-45 black and 60-100 fresh (in gallons) fresh is any water that comes out of any pipe including drinking. grey is any used water that goes down a drain(sink, shower, ect) black is your bathroom. these caps matter depending on how long you'll be out at a time and if you'll be around a dump station or hooked up at a rv park/ campsite bed size? shower / bathroom size at 20 ft toy haulers many have the pot right inside the shower not next to it so you have to shower around the pisser lol. cabinet / storage space? if toy hauler... do you need a separate garage space... you wont get that under 20 ft then there is other things... kitchen size EG fridge size... microwave / and stove top... does it have an oven? do you need one? many don't have one. so if buying new... look out for the above to help you decide on your needs and wants and uses... if buying used.... when was the roof last serviced.... i clean and seal mine twice a year.... the manufactures say every 90 days! how old are the tires. check the undercarriage for major rust look at the pipes and lines, outside check the gas lines and fridge lines. inside look for water damage, bowing panels doors / cabinets that don't close properly and so on i know there is more but i just woke up..

  15. your not wrong and any A rider worth their salt should be able to get around anyone at anytime safely , that's the point. and as long has all riders involved understand that some one that is faster than you in the "other" group may come up and pass you closer than 5ft everything should be fine.. i only speak from experience as it doesn't matter what group your in some one will have a claim to some one being unsafe... or passing them well within the limits given to them.. EG the standard 6 ft intermediate rule... and that persons claim is just as important as the one that may or may not have done the offending pass... are you to tell them sorry they are an expert racer you'll be fine when they pass you under 5 ft even though your used to 5 ft in advanced? (btw most racers ive been around generally pass others with MASSIVE amounts of room! unless they know you of course then its a friendly elbow rub or butt smack haha)

I'm honestly not criticizing , I'm interested. why not just call it E3 then and have everyone follow the same rule? btw I'm interested that advanced guys have to follow a 5 foot rule. what was the reasoning behind this?
  17. would be very difficult to monitor passing in the E3- E4 group for a coach/ control rider... plus how is it fair for a E3 guy to be adhering to the 5 foot anywhere rule when a e4 dude would stuff it up on them? (ps i always believe if your an advanced rider passing anywhere at any distance is acceptable as long as it was safe and controlled that's part of being in advanced and being skilled enough to not be spooked by that move) but to dictate separate rules for 2 groups running at the same time just seems well, interesting.

  19. its not it is clear... this is on an 08-16 r6... i know as i USED to use KN on my bike... with GP shift as show here it is closer than standard shift but it clears just fine.. the angle here is horrible making it seem like the tolerance is very tight when its really not... this goes hopefully with out saying but stop using KN !!! and yes the band clamp is REQUIRED at all RACING orgs just as drain plugs and so on.. back in the early days of failure i saw a lot of people have the KN nut safety wired and pulling so we thought the failures were do to that
  20. if you are at Autobahn or Blackhawk and even sometimes Putnam... you can get 2:1 almost everytime
  21. if you can afford a private tutoring / coaching at a dedicated school such as CSS or YCRS then do it! FYI... Sportbike Track time in Novice is dedicated to getting the smallest coach to student ratio available in a commercial track day org... our goal is no more than 5:1 with many days being closer to 3:1 , in intermediate the ratio is 8:1 though individual coaching is available in groups as staffing allows!
