  1. Didn't you see those badass bikes on MadMax? Oh, now I get it. I don't think that's a nickname that the guys from Mattighoffen use for themselves.
  2. Um, it's Ossie for Oestericher. The Aussies are all down under. The Aussies wouldn't be picky about tire specs anyway, they'd find a way to make it work.
  3. I've always stuck to the stock dimensions. Ask around.
  4. That was a fun ride. Great to see you all. Iggy - so what else did you get at the Pony? Chris
  5. Interesting. 44 in Cleveland. 34 and fog in McConnelsville. Cold start warm finish at about 67. Dress in LAYERS.
  6. The ride is POSTPONED to Sunday Oct 13, same time and place. Regrets to Skinny and anybody else who will now have to miss it. Sunday morning will be COLD. Dress with layers and take breaks on your way to the boat ramp.
  7. That’s what I do, spoil everybody’s fun. But, I got a nice ride out of it.
  8. Brian - I rode over there. Your camera was not there. Sorry.
  9. OK, now that the weather bitching has officially started ... (Thanks Skinny ) The rain forecast for Saturday has moved from 20% to 30% to 50%. And the forecast for Sunday remains near perfect, if a bit crisp in the AM. So, those of you who signed up, please chime in on whether you will be able to ride if this happens on Sunday r/t Saturday. Those who could not make it Saturday can whine all you want but ... Frankly, I think that system that's moving from MO into IL will be through here on Friday night, and Saturday will be great. But all you unfortunates that live off yonder in the flat lands need to make plans. So here we go.
  10. ...in the unofficial EPIC ride? Heck yes. Well, motorcycle riders preferred.
  11. The original poster lady is NEVER coming back.
  12. Simple: Ed and Steve are trying to invent a newer less MCP way to drive lady riders off of the forum. So they are trying the "Let's debate the current state of the American Education system" a.k.a "let's be boring as hell" approach. 😁 Seems to have worked. The OP seemed pretty feisty. But she hasn't been back since the first dictionary lesson. Which I thought was well done - by the way. Pretty sure that it went right over Sean's head. For those of you that missed the heights of the women's lib movement, or have forgotten it, MCP is male chauvinist oinker. Betcha the history lessons work just as well. Chris occasionally called a pig, but never a chauvinist.
  13. ROSTER: COUNT: 8 (3) Fast: Medium Fast: Medium: Pauly Isaac (if he isn't working) Tonik (Lead) Iggy Killer_kaw (sweep) Slow: Shoop - Lead Grokked Will Decide Later: Skinny guy NinjaDoc Maybe: flashesbuck Indecipherable Neutral Face Imoji 😐: What
  14. POSTPONED TO SUNDAY OCT 13. Same time and place. Date: SATURDAY - October 12, 2019 Rain Date: Sunday - October 13, 2019 Most of this text is borrowed from earlier ride notices posted by Derek Clouser - Thanks Derek! All details are subject to change - so please follow up to this thread before the event to verify all details are the same! Meet Place: Boat Ramp @ 2439 S Riverside Dr. McConnelsville, OH 43756 Time: Meet by 10:30; Pre-Ride Speech, Photo, and Group Organization at 11:00; kickstands up by 11:30 Route: https://goo.gl/maps/uUuLVSK4iFsSU5hNA Request: Be ATGATT if possible, and try and sport an OR t shirt if you have one. Some etiquette to help us all ride better and safer as suggested by many riders: Everyone is responsible for themselves, so ride within your limits. Crashing is not something we want to have happen. Ride within your limits and stay safe. Our goal is to have a fun safe day of riding with a bunch who share the same passion. Crashing only ruins that fun, not only for you, but for others as well. Ideal maximum group size is ten riders with a lead rider and a tail (sweep) rider. These two riders should be interchangeable in skill level so that the sweep rider can evaluate and help the riders in front of them: These two riders need to know the count of how many riders are in their group. The lead rider needs to wait at all stops for the sweep rider to give him a thumbs up. At each stop the leader or sweep rider can switch or at their discretion ask and allow a new formation of the line. Do not allow passing other riders in same group once the ride has started except at starts. Passing slow moving vehicles may be needed for the faster group; when doing this each rider makes times and judges it for themselves. Don't wait for the group to pass as a whole. At times, riders might have to cross a double yellow to pass. Group leaders and sweeps should know the route well and if possible have ridden it prior to event. Do not allow changes of groups at stops (Unless both ride leaders of both groups are aware of the change and it does not raise the group count to over ten riders. If a rider has to leave a group early, please make sure they tell someone in the group. Do not pass other riders within a group, except at stops or if the rider in front waves you by. Try and avoid 'pushing' a rider in front of you (this means to give the people in front of you space so they don't feel pressured to go faster than they are comfortable). If you picked the wrong spot in line of your group ask to change positions at stops or if a rider signals you to pass. Start the ride with a full tank of gas. We will stop for gas at the Speedway at 100 N 7th St, in Marietta. The unfortunate long haulers will start back to get home before dark. Those of us who do not need to leave immediately can gather at The Boondocks, just north of McConnelsville on 60. https://theboondocksbbqandgrill.webs.com/ The Groups If turnout is low we might have only one or two groups. Always start one group below what you feel you ride. Meaning if you think your fast, start with medium fast group and if you are comfortable move to the fast group during gas break after letting the lead and sweep know. Better to be safe than sorry. Remember we might be riding roads very new to you. Fast: Usually 70mph on the straight and 25-30 mph over the posted limit of curve. The people who belong to the group know they belong to this group, they don't think they belong here.Don't jump in here unless you been riding with such fellows for some time. eg: (Names deleted to prevent ego inflation 😁) Medium-Fast: 65-70mph on the straight and 20-25 over the posted limit of curve. This is the usual fast rides some group rides do, still rather fast• Jump in here if you been riding for a while and is comfortable at these paces on most roads Medium: 65 mph on the straight and 15-20 over the posted limit of curve. This is the everyday regular group rides pace,Jump in here if you been riding for a while and is comfortable at these paces on most roads Slow: 60 mph or around posted limit on the straight and up to 10 over the posted limit of curve. This is the a very comfortable yet fun group ride. Jump in here if you like doing friendly fun rides and also new riders must join here. If you could please announce if you plan to attend and which group so I can keep an ongoing list. If you plan on bringing someone else from outside of the forums, or those who don't post, please add a +1 for each member, so we can kind of figure out how many groups we will need to plan for. Also post if you are willing to sweep or lead so we can get a list for that as well. Disclaimer: The following words "Ohio Epic Ride" refers to this specific ride. 15. Saturday, Oct 12. To those not able to attend, I'm sorry. I'll post a details page tomorrow. Chris
  16. Saturday I bought my first Gerbing heated gear stuff at 25% discount. So, how long till the temps hit 30, so i can try it out? I hear (reliable source) that the show will be at CBus again next year. It was in Orlando the first few years, then CBus in 17, then Vegas in 18. Nivin - I have also seen the statement that Ohio has the second largest MC population. Choice of CBus is probably helped because Nationwide is a major sponsor. Sadly, the Progressive show seems to be dwindling. Chris
  17. BUMP - Has almost everybody put their bikes away for the winter? The poll will close on Tuesday, Oct. 1. I will try to honor the winning vote. Please comment with any conflicts, like "We're all celebrating Columbus Day" But it's not on the weekend this year. The meet will be at the boat dock in McConnelsville OH. The route will be similar to the spring route, about 150 miles. Meeting at 10:30. Kickstands up at 11:00. There will be no cookout, T-shirts, or official video - unless somebody else wants to coordinate any of those. Anybody who doesn't have to hit the road immediately can have a meal at the Boondocks Grill just north/west of McConnelsville.
  18. Welcome. Sometime before the weather turns cold we need to have another general purpose ride in SE Ohio. Chris
  19. Welcome Jeri! If you're from Dayton and like sport-touring and dual sporting, then you either already know Norm Kern, or should get to know him. I don't think Norm is on this forum, but you'll see him often on facebook on the page for MSTA - Motorcycle Sport Touring Association. If you're looking for a sorta local ride this weekend, please consider the Fall Colors ride in Lewisburg WV. This will probably draw about 40-50 riders from all over the eastern US. (Sorry about the short notice.) I was wanting to go this year, but I need to take a weekend off, well really a Sunday, to be at home. http://msta-se.com/fcr/ Chris
  20. Welcome. Come visit southeast Ohio sometime. Chris
  21. Are you sure? You know they don't need to be hooked into the existing doorbell circuit. I have one - so thanks anyway.
