  1. Thanks Rick, Fortunately all I needed in that roadside repair was effectiveness and not attractiveness. The steel rod, duct tape, and needle-nose vise grip combination was enough to get me home on the same day I planned to get home. Thanks for the note about the road surface from that awesome-until-it-wasn't day last year. My thoughts from those moments were that I may have locked the front wheel while leaned over, but running out of clearance while tilted to the left is certainly within the realm of possibility as well. Those are lowered foot pegs that the side stand comes right up underneath, probably reducing about an inch from "normal" ground clearance on the left side. Further, the entire suspension was probably dialed a fair bit too soft for my mass as compared to the previous owner (I've since adjusted that to better match my weight as well). However my mishap occurred, I certainly don't have any recollection of the moments between leaning over for the curve and hearing the side of my helmet scrape on the pavement. Anyway, I anticipate I'll be on that same stretch of 377 on September 2nd as I go out for a ride during this year's Moto Guzzi Ohio Rally in Zanesville.
  2. Implemented some side-of-the-road repairs near Ripley, WV back on Aug 6th, then topped off the fuel tank and finished riding home in one-shot that evening. Once the replacement part arrived, I finally had time to install it this past weekend. The new lever took a surprising amount of persuading to mount on the knurled pivot pin.
  3. That's some beautifully ugly machinery. I don't want to like it, however there is a certain appeal.
  4. Rode to a meetup in Mt Morris PA, then rode to lunch (pictured), followed by an unplanned battery transplant at my last fuel stop. Replacement was not exactly OEM spec, but it fit in the battery space, started the bike and I got home the same day.
  5. Made it home Sunday late afternoon. Pain is manageable as the doctors prescribed all the good pills. Feeling my ribs move around is probably the most unpleasant part of the aftermath. Happy to see that the Goot-zie looks about 97% ok... they are characterful bikes, and now that one has a bit more ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Thanks for the help everyone, and Joel in particular. I have every intention of resuming two-wheeled therapy sessions by August.
  6. Looks like showing up is possible this time around. I'll be leaving Cleveland around 7am to get there between 10 and 1030 via I-77, OH-21, OH-93, OH-83

  9. Something Epic in the Spring? Here's hoping for no scheduling conflicts (or calamitous weather).

Could do either one; slight preference for 23rd.
  11. The Buckland Museum at 2155 Broadview Rd. Cleveland, Ohio. Next, with the flag of a foreign country.
  12. Love it; I bought it new and am working on riding it until it falls apart. It's a great around-town commuter/errand runner, and is OK for distance runs (would be better if I acquire a windscreen). At present the odometer reads about 33,500 miles. It is still mechanically sound, but I have had a couple electrical gremlins. Fortunately those gremlins did not strand me at the side of the road, they've been sorted and it's an Italian bike so, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. There is no factory passenger backrest. Best option there would be a Hepco & Becker Rear Rack & Top Case with a Backrest accessory.
  13. Welcome to this mad corner of the internet. Fun and friends can be found here (shocking, I know!). Shouldn't be too much longer before the coffee kicks in and others around here start replying.
  14. Welcome back from your hiatus. That Hawk looks incredibly well cared-for.
  15. Can confirm that Guzzi dealer support is sparse at best in Ohio, let alone options in the exceptionally far south - still would not prevent me from picking up another one because more is more.
  16. Looks like you took the opportunity in front of you to provide a loving home for that dopamine inducement device. Bravo to you Sir!
  17. Welcome to this most excellent corner of the internet, there's plenty of good advice to be found here (Tonik's post earlier in this thread is but one example). You'll also find plenty of sarcasm, questionable humor, and friendly insults.
  18. Nailed it. Also, Tonik shoulda gotten to the strip club sooner. Next up: A county courthouse. Fairly certain there are 88 to choose from.
  19. Had a great time, also collected some sunburn in the gap between jacket and gloves.
  20. I'm up for a 2nd round.
  21. Was a perfectly pleasant ride, not at all like the persona promulgated by the person that planned this parade.
  22. A few hours of small group two-wheeled therapy this Saturday? I'm in.
  23. Looks like I can be there on Saturday; Slow is a perfectly good pace for me.
  24. Welcome to this cORner of the internet. You'll certainly find good people around here for idea bouncing.
