  5. Our Team RidersDiscount.com motorcycles are all equipped with the very same chain and sprockets you see here because they’re durable, light and reliable. By reducing rotating mass, you can expect improved throttle response from your motorcycle. You’ll also have a wide range of drivetrain ratios to choose from based upon your needs. Renthal rear sprockets are machined from 7075 T6 aluminum construction (not cheaper, less durable 6000 series aluminum!) and then hard anodized specifically to stand up to the conditions routinely encountered by road and road-racing motorcycles. The hard anodizing process reduces friction where the DiD ERV3 chain interfaces with the sprocket to increase chain and sprocket life. The hard anodizing process also inhibits corrosion and gives the rear sprocket a distinctive finish. Best of all, the Ultralight Renthal chainwheel design reduces rotating mass, thereby improving throttle response because they’re 66% lighter than equivalent steel sprockets. Renthal front sprockets are machined from 655M13 nickel chrome molybdenum alloy steel. After machining, they’re case-hardened for the ultimate in durability. Like their rear sprockets, Renthal countershaft chainwheels are built to last and (where possible) employ the Ultralight design to reduce rotating mass when compared to conventional steel front sprockets. All Renthal sprockets - front and rear – are precision CNC-machined for a close fit, excellent concentricity and light weight. This reduces friction between chain and sprocket which, combined with their lightweight manufacturing techniques, means more power is delivered to the ground than with other sprockets. All of this is done without sacrificing safety or longevity. These 520 chain kits also include a DiD ERV3 chain with 120 links. Regarded by many as the best 520 chain for road-going motorcycles, the ERV3 uses X-ring seals to keep lubricant in place against each pin and plate while keeping dirt and grim out. The X-ring seal is particularly advantageous because it does all of this with minimal friction loss, so you get the most efficient transfer of power to the rear wheel without excessive chain wear. Call Nathan for your sprocket and chain needs - 866.931.6644 ext 809. You can also email us, send those to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with RENTHAL 520 CONVERSION KIT in the subject line and please include the gear ratio you need and the year and model of the bike you’re riding for accurate availability. Get everything you need in ONE box with a DiD ERV3 X-Ring chain along with a Renthal front and rear sprocket. We can also supply this DiD chain tool to help you remove and replace your bike’s existing chain. Renthal chain wheels are available in a wide range of tooth counts. Talk to our experts today and find out what combination will give your motorcycle the best performance for your needs.
  6. Built using the same proven armor as other Forcefield protective equipment like the Pro L2 back protector, the Extreme Harness Flite offers a substantial amount of chest and back impact protection in a comfortable design that can be customized to a perfect fit. The Extreme Harness Flite riding vest was designed for a multitude of uses, from road racing and trackdays to mountain biking and BMX to skiing and snowboarding – pretty much anywhere comfortable impact protection is desired. To do this, the vest is made with no hard buckles, fasteners, buttons or studs to piece everything together. Why? - Because these items may actually induce additional injury in the event of a fall. Furthermore, no mesh or large swaths of fabric are employed outside of what is necessary to keep the armor securely in position on the wearer. This is done to minimize interference between the Forcefield Armour and your other riding gear. For the best possible fit, the Extreme Harness is available in three sizes, each of which is easily configurable to accommodate different shapes and builds. Best of all, the Extreme Harness Flite is made with Forcefield’s outstanding Nitrex shock absorbing material. This is the same impact suppression material as used in other Forcefield gear. And, unlike the crush-foam that’s used in other motorcycle protective gear, Nitrex’s impact-absorbing properties are not degraded after each hit. This last point is a significant feature for the safety-conscious rider who doesn’t want to replace his armor after using it in a crash. That’s because Forcefield Nitrex repeat-performance technology offers the same impact performance hit, after hit, after hit. Forcefield’s Nitrex armor does this while being incredibly flexible, molding itself to the wearer for the best impact protection possible. If you’re looking for just one piece of gear to protect your back and chest, look no further than the Extreme Harness Flite from Forcefield Armour. Every piece of motorcycle protective gear from Forcefield Armour is independently verified to surpass the appropriate CE impact standards. This particular vest features CE Level 1 certification for the chest protector and CE Level 2 certification for the back protector. Forcefield Armor is not yet available on our website. For more information, call Mike at 866.931.6644 ext 804 or send an email to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with FORCEFIELD EXTREME HARNESS in the subject line and we’ll get back to you right away. The Forcefield Extreme Harness Flite’s chest protector covers a large area of the chest. The hook-and-loop fasteners allow the wearer to easily configure the armor so it’s ideally positioned for the comfort and the best impact protection. Instead of using the kidney belt to attach the chest protector, a separate attachment point is used for a perfect fit. This allows the wearer to position the back and chest protectors independently for a custom fit and maximum impact protection. These holes found on the chest and back protectors, allow your skin to breath and also let air pass through to the skin below to keep you cool. Forcefield produces not only the most protective motorcycle riding armor in the business, but also the most comfortable impact absorbing equipment you can get. Crush-foam material doesn’t breathe nearly as well as the triangular-shaped Nitrex armor used by Forcefield. When wearing perforated leathers, you’ll be able to feel the air hitting your skin at speed. Flexible, breathable, and highly protective with customizable fit – Forcefield’s Extreme Harness Flite is an excellent choice for riders that demand the best upper body protection.
  7. Now you can get the same suspension linkage kit as used by AMA Daytona Sportbike teams with this Yoshimura rear linkage kit. This suspension linkage kit for L1 series Suzuki GSX-R600 and GSX-R750 motorcycles includes everything you need to replace the OEM linkage with that of a more linear rate. The difference in suspension geometry is designed to improve rear end traction when the rider applies throttle. As always, everything you need is included with this Yoshimura linkage kit. A full exhaust system is required to facilitate its installation as the OEM exhaust does not provide proper clearance. The Yoshimura suspension linkage kit is machined from aircraft-grade alloys and then anodized black for beauty and corrosion resistance. No need to fiddle with bearing removal tools: Yoshimura includes high-quality needle bearings with their linkage kit. Another distinctive feature of this kit are the threaded inserts on the right-hand-side triangle. This makes swapping out shocks much easier!
  8. Akrapovic just released this slip-on exhaust for the L1 series Suzuki GSX-R600 & GSX-R750. It removes the cumbersome OEM muffler and replaces it with a beautifully-welded titanium pipe that includes an optional sound-deadening baffle. Everything you need for a quick, simple installation is included with this muffler. Nearly flawless welds are a hallmark of Akrapovic exhausts. On untuned motorcycles (that is, no custom map), Akrapovic claims a improvement of 2.8 and 5.6 horsepower on the GSX-R600 and GSX-R750, respectively. A competent tuner would likely be able to extract even more power from this titanium GP-style slip-on exhaust.
  9. That would be Brian Gibson, RD owner. He's no slouch and has had a fair share of AMA Pro experience. Your first guess is correct. But, we're going to replace that RCS master with a nice new unit. We'll post details on that soon.
  10. At RidersDiscount.com we prepare and build our own race bikes in-house at our Holland, Michigan headquarters. Choose the classic 19x18 Brembo m/c in either forged or, billet finish. Brembo RCS master cylinders are another excellent choice, especially for the street rider that wants to retain brake light functionality with the included brake light sensor. And if you need even more stopping power, consider a set of Brembo CNC brake calipers! Get this Öhlins suspension kit setup for your weight and riding style for $2,250 shipped to your door! StompGrip now available for 2011 GSX-R600 and GSX-R750. For those of you that plan on doing any tracktime and don't want to risk damaging the OEM Suzuki GSXR bodywork, SharkSkinz now has fairings available. Upper fairing for 2011 GSXR600 GSXR750. Belly pan. Akrapovič full Racing Line exhaust systems are now available for the L1 Suzuki GSXR motorcycles. As always, production quality is top-notch with an excellent fit between different sections of pipe and smooth, precise bends from the primaries all the way to the terminus of the header system. This four-into-two-into-one exhaust layout provides a wider spread of power over the entire RPM range and also produces a noticeable bump in performance right in the mid-range where riders want it most! Best of all, the gains have been realized on an engine that is in otherwise completely stock configuration – no air filter mods or ECU mapping changes! In the case of the GSXR600 L1 and GSXR750 L1, Akrapovič lists a boost of 7HP and 9.1HP respectively, over the stock exhaust. With a little time on the dyno and a remapping kit from Bazzaz (for example) we suspect an improvement in those performance numbers could be made! The Racing Line full system from Akrapovič is fabricated entirely from stainless steel and comes with your choice of either a carbon fiber or titanium muffler. Each muffler is fabricated almost entirely from titanium, with exception going to the carbon fiber components used on the endcap and the sleeve. The Akrapovič Racing Line full exhaust system for Suzuki’s latest middleweight weapons includes everything you need for a straightforward installation. There’s even a SET valve elimination kit included with the exhaust allowing you to easily avoid setting off any ECU error codes upon removal of the exhaust flapper valve system. The 4-2-1 design is perfectly formed by CNC pipe bending equipment for a perfect fit and efficient exhaust flow. A crossover pipe is fitted between the #2 and #3 primary headers to aid in exhaust scavenging. This helps to create greater midrange punch. Akrapovic makes it easy to re-install the OEM lambda sensor. Of course, you can also use any of the popular aftermarket self-mapping kits too. The Akrapovic GSXR600 / GSXR750 exhaust includes adaptors for both the Dynojet and Bazzaz self-tuning modules. No welding required! In a departure from their traditional stamped steel exhaust flanges, Akrapovic now utilizes cast exhaust flanges. Not only are these lighter than the design they replace, they’re also pre-curved to provide a better fit against the OEM Suzuki exhaust valves. Where the headers meet the cylinder head, precision-machined fittings are used for a perfect seal. An Akrapovic carbon fiber exhaust hanger is included with every Racing Line full system. For maximum durability, these hangers are each tailored specifically for the muffler sleeve they’re gripping. In other words, one is made just to hold the titanium sleeved muffler, while another is specifically for a carbon fiber sleeved exhaust. Precision welds are a hallmark of all Akrapovic exhausts. The Racing Line full exhaust system is now available for 200 Suzuki GSXR600 and GSXR750 models.
  12. BMC Air Filters for motorcycles provide increased protection while decreasing resistance to airflow as it travels from the atmosphere, through the airbox, and into the combustion chamber. The result is not only an engine that is better protected from road and atmospheric debris, but also has increased output performance. After all, greater air pressure entering the combustion chamber means more fuel can be added at the same time and more power can be created. In other words, if you’re looking for the best possible engine performance and minimum wear due to atmospheric debris, BMC filters can help your realize your goals! BMC air filters are not yet available on our site. For more information, call Mike at 866.931.6644 x 804 or send a message to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with BMC FILTER in the subject line and be sure to include the year and model of your motorcycle for accurate availability and fast shipping. To obtain performance without compromise, BMC filters use a special cotton gauze that is soaked with low-viscosity oil to trap particulate matter while allowing oxygen to pass through uninhibited. BMC air filters for most bikes are available in two different styles: street (left) and the race version with its distinctive yellow marking. The street version has more layers of filtering material to protect engine internals against debris that one could expect to encounter on public roads. The race filter, on the other hand, maximizes engine performance by using as few layers as safely possible to allow an ideal combination between performance and filtering on a racetrack where airborne debris is less likely to be encountered. Race filters increase air flow efficiency by 25% when compared to standard BMC filters. By using a special soft rubber chassis, BMC air filters seal against the OEM airbox better than stock so as to allow a greater degree of engine protection. The gauze element itself is surrounded on both sides by an alloy mesh that is coated with a thin layer of epoxy. This epoxy resin protects the filter element from damage; either by debris, backfire and/or other forces it can expect to encounter within the airbox. Every BMC air filter is made in Italy and packaged pre-oiled so they’re ready to use right out of the box. All BMC filters can easily be regenerated after any length of time so as to maintain maximum efficiency and protection for your motor. You won’t need to throw yours away because it’s dirty – simply wash as directed and reinstall in your motorcycle!
  13. They’re finally here, Cortech’s newest motorcycle boots for road racers: the Latigo Air boots. These boots are designed to provide a high degree of ventilation along with armor in all of the right places for impact and abrasion protection. Molded thermoplastic polyurethane is used for the heel cup and shin guard. These armor plates disperse energy over a larger area and are backed with an impact absorbing foam material for shock absorption and comfort. An autolocking zipper runs the length of the inner-facing side that, when opened, allows the foot to slip easily in or out. The zipper itself is covered with an adjustable Velcro flap on the upper portion that also features a bellows for added fore/aft flexibility. Leather stretch panels are also sewn in behind the Achilles and at the top of the front arch, further aiding natural fore/aft movement. To prevent the pain and injury of rolling the foot inward/outward, a rigid thermoplastic polyurethane heel guard limits this type of unnatural movement. This is something you will be thankful for in some situations! Up front, the toes are covered by Cortech’s TecnoGI thermoplastic toe cap and a replaceable toe slider for added safety. Inside all of this, your foot will be stood atop a pre-formed orthopedic foot bed that absorbs vibration, resists bacterial growth and helps your skin breath for a high degree of comfort in warmer weather. Best of all, these boots are very reasonably priced, especially considering the level of safety and protection they offer. For more information, go to our website or call Mike at 866.931.6644 x 804. You can also email us anytime you want, just send a note to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with CORTECH LATIGO BOOTS in the subject line and we’ll get back to you right away. Cortech Latigo Air Road Race Boots in solid black. The boot’s interior is completely lined with Cortech’s Air-Mesh breathable liner. This creates an area of space between the wearer and the boot’s outer shell. Hotspots are minimized against the shell’s hard armor and air is allowed to easily move into the boot keeping the foot cool and comfortable. These new Cortech motorcycle boots can also be had in a white/black color combination. From the toes back, the boot is highly perforated to encourage efficient airflow to the wearer. A profile shot of the upper boot reveals Cortech’s use of a large thermoplastic polyurethane armor plate to cover the shin. Shock absorbing material is encased by the device to help prevent painful bruising when your foot comes off the pegs unexpectedly. A VR sole is used for its durability and reliable grip in a wide range of riding conditions. “Triple density comfort arch support antifungal contour heel cushion anti bacterial wicks moisture fast dr ing[sic]” reads the preformed orthopedic foot bed. Basically, it means your foot will be comfortable and odor free when it’s firmly planted within the boot. Toe shifter pegs can really chew up your boots, especially for those of you that corner low and grind into your bike’s hardware occasionally. Cortech addresses this (potential) problem by laying a thick layer of TPU over a wide swath of the toe box. This not only prevents wear in that area, but it also aids the TecnoGI thermoplastic toe cap in preventing injury to the toes in a crash. Cortech’s newest boots are ready for the road or the track. 14. Another great question, the answer is simple. Most of the new chargers and/or battery tenders don't allow you to select the amount of amperage/voltage you can charge at. If you charge it over 14.4 volts or over the maximum time allowed then you can ruin the battery. They are coming out with a new charger to take all the guess work out of things. Hope that helps!
  15. It can't be used with a battery tender and no real need to. It only loses up to 10% off it's charge over a year. Ballistic is coming out with a battery charger in the future designed to work for their batteries. The best way to charge right now is with an older charger like a Craftsmen that has the read out dials. Here is the information regarding charging instructions. Standard Charge: 2A @ 13.8-14.4V for 45 minutes Maximum Charge Rate: 4 Cell (101-100) - 10A @ 13.8-14.4V for 15 minutes. 8 Cell (101-103) - 20A @ 13.8-14.4V for 15 minutes. 12 Cell (101-105) - 20A @ 13.8-14.4V for 15 minutes. Great questions regarding the product, let me know if you would like to try one.
  16. A 4 cell should be fine for an 05 ZX6R. There hasn't been any reports that I am aware of. We use them in all of our race bikes and have been very pleased with the performance of the product. Thanks for the positive feedback, I appreciate it!
  17. Riders Discount is a stocking dealer for Ballistic Performance EVO2 aftermarket motorcycle batteries. These aren’t relabeled shrink-wrapped store-bought batteries, but instead they’re hand-made in the USA lithium iron phosphate batteries that are engineered to be extremely light, durable and powerful with every component designed specifically for use in high-performance motorcycles. If you’re looking to save a significant amount of weight, and improve your motorcycle’s starting performance, look no further than Ballistic Performance EVO2 batteries. Superbikes are designed to be as light as possible yet they still employ rather arcane lead-acid batteries that comparatively, weight a ton. Depending on the application, you can expect to save up to ten pounds of weight just by switching batteries! This is a considerable amount of mass that will be noticeably absent the first time you ride the bike with this battery installed. From a maintenance standpoint, a conventional lead-acid battery will lose much of its charge, even during short-term storage which is why trickle chargers are so popular today. Ballistic Performance lightweight lithium iron phosphate motorcycle batteries have a very low self-discharge rate and can easily be expected to withstand indoor storage for a year or more with no recharging required to start your bike afterwards! Another big advantage of this aftermarket motorcycle battery, other than its light weight - is its power output performance. Pound-for-pound, conventional lead-acid batteries do not transfer electricity nearly as efficiently as Ballistic Performance batteries and consequently, must be built oversized to make up for this. The result is a battery that weighs significantly more yet provides less starting power output than a Ballistic Performance motorcycle battery. And unlike some aftermarket battery manufacturers that want you to buy their expensive charging equipment, Ballistic Performance batteries come with clear instructions to fully charge EVO2 batteries in fifteen minutes with conventional battery chargers. Nineteenth century lead-acid battery technology does not belong in your bike – step into the new millennium with an EVO2 battery by calling Mike at 866.931.6644 x 804 to order or send a message to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with BALLISTIC PERFORMANCE EVO2 BATTERIES in the subject line and we’ll get back to you right away. Four, eight and twelve cell batteries are available to suit a wide range of applications. From dirtbikes to high-compression V-twins – if you’re unsure of your needs, call us for advice on what best suits your application. Each EVO2 battery comes fully charged out of the box, simply plug in and you’re ready to go. The high-strength plastic chassis provides a durable package for the LiFePO4 cathode that’s up to the challenge of the starting high-compression engines. Plus its small size frees up room within your bike’s battery box for popular aftermarket tuning equipment like a Power Commander or a Bazzaz Performance tuning kit. Smaller and lighter than your bike’s OEM battery, Ballistic Performance EVO2 batteries plug directly into your motorcycle’s OEM wire harness. No special connection hardware required. Simply plug in and ride! Best of all, unlike some manufacturers of lightweight batteries, Ballistic Performance provides the precise charging recipe in the packaging of each battery so you can quickly charge the device anytime you feel necessary. No cheap plastic shrink wrap packaging here! Every Ballistic Performance Battery is made with a durable two-piece chassis that houses four, eight or twelve powerful cells to turn your bike’s engine over fast and reliably. We stocked heavy so you can ride light. Ballistic Performance LiFePO4 aftermarket motorcycle batteries are ready to ship!
  18. New for 2011, the Alpinestars SMX Plus has many of the same features as the top-of-the-line Alpinestars Supertech R boiled down into a more value-priced design that will work well for street riders and racers alike. The exterior leather chassis features leather accordion stretch panels on the front side and on the back of the boot. And just like Alpinestars leather suits, these provide enhanced flexibility without sacrificing abrasion resistance. On one side of the toe box, a new dual-density toe slider is included with expanded coverage for the upper area of the toe which is excellent for riders that like to dig into the peg on the inside foot while cornering. Additionally, the sole has a lip on its front edge that covers the stitching that attaches the upper chassis to it for even greater durability. To prevent the shifter from wearing into the boot and increase feel, a rubber pad is sewn in just above the toes. The aft portion of the boot is the most interesting aspect. Featuring a new Multi Link Control system, Alpinestars claims this exoskeleton device not only helps to prevent excessive ankle joint movement in a fall, but also act as an impact attenuator for both sides of the ankle and Achilles heel. Furthermore, we suspect that it’s also good for abrasion resistance as it’s one more piece between your foot and the road in a crash. The Multi Link Control system is made up of three separate parts that include the heal cup, a lower pivot joint that is proximal to the sides of the ankle and an upper portion that slides through a tunnel located on the back of the calf protector. The latter two portions pivot so as not to interfere with normal movement on or off the bike. A large TPU heel counter is fitted with two vents to promote efficient cooling of the foot when at speed and it also has a replaceable slider on its rearmost portion to keep the boot looking good when the riding isn’t so great. There’s also a metal slider embedded on the lateral side of the heel counter for the rider that hangs his foot out a little too much when cornering. The whole area is well-padded with a shock-absorbing liner on the inside for even greater rider protection. Up at the top of the boot, a large swath of TPU armor wraps around the calf and houses a ratcheting closure mechanism for a secure fit on the rider. It’s also well-padded on the inside for comfort and impact protection. A single zipper on the outer-facing side of the boot has a stretch panel sewn into it to accommodate different foot shapes and the zipper latch itself has a home under the TPU protector up top so it’s not flapping in the wind as you ride. Inside the boot, a full-length microfiber liner is both breathable and supremely comfortable. As we’ve mentioned, this liner is padded with open cell foam in all of the right places and quickly molds itself to the shape of the foot to provide maximum feel with no discomfort at all. This is further aided by a special tongue with a Kevlar speed lace mechanism that pulls the foot down into the boot for a solid, secure feeling. Think of it as a combat boot for riding bikes, it really has a vault-like feeling yet, it’s surprising flexible. And everything is sat atop a rubber sole that’s formulated to last. The grip pattern features an even run of rain sipes that provide secure traction on the bike so you can go for it in bad weather without the worry of your feet slipping off the pegs. The 2011 Alpinestars SMX Plus boot is CE-certified. Because these are brand new, availability is extremely limited and we only have these available in black and black ventilated for the time being. For more information on the SMX Plus, call Mike at 866.931.6644 ext 804 or send a message to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with ALPINESTARS 2011 SMX PLUS BOOTS in the subject line and we’ll get back to you right away. Alpinestars SMX Plus boots in black. A close look at the back of the boot reveals the Multi Link Control system which is comprised of three separate, but integral, parts that support the ankle joint and help prevent injury by hyperextension in a crash. Also note the accordion stretch panel sewn in at the back of the boot. A large accordion panel is also sewn into the front portion of these Alpinestars boots. To the right resides the main entry zipper which is partially secreted behind a leather flap. This leather flap helps to reduce water intrusion when it’s raining. The other side of the zipper is attached with a stretch material to help the boot fit around different foot shapes. A new grip pattern features rain sipes to get water off the bottom of the boot quickly and enhance grip in wet riding conditions. The rubber compound is formulated for long-lasting durability to stand up to aggressive riding. Alpinestars uses an anatomically-shaped footbed which is made with a thick foam base with molded channels to encourage airflow and increase comfort for the wearer. They can also be easily replaced. Inside the boot you can see the tongue and its Kevlar speed lace system. By using this, the boot does not merely surround the wearer’s foot, but holds onto it with a firm but comfortable grip. This not only improves feel, but also increases the level of protection the boot offers since other safety mechanisms will be properly positioned in relation to the foot. The heel counter surrounds the back of the foot effectively and also provides a unique ventilation scheme. You can also see the lower pivot points for the Multi Link Control system just below the silver Alpinestars logos near the left and right sides of the picture. For riders in hotter climates, the 2011 SMX Plus motorcycle boots from Alpinestars are also available in a ventilated version. As you can see, this provides a significant amount of extra ventilation when compared to the non-vented version seen on the left in this photo. Perforations are die-cut, so there’s no frayed leather hanging out of each hole that could lead to further wear and tear. Alpinestars has 2011 SMX Plus boots in solid white, red and a white/red vented version. The SMX Plus boots in red and black. A white and red ventilated version is perfect for anyone riding in hotter climates. A full-length elastic bellows runs parallel with the zipper to provide a comfortable surrounds for the foot and a perfect fit. The zipper is secreted behind a flap of material with Alpinestars screen-printed logos that impart abrasion resistance and increase crash survivability. The white and red vented boots also get two-tone toe sliders. White non-vented Alpinestars SMX Plus street riding boots also get two-tone toe sliders. Call us for expert sizing guidance and fast shipping on all Alpinestars motorcycle apparel.

Spidi T-2 Wind Pro one piece leather suits are available in two colors, black and white, as shown here … … or red, white and blue. Spidi uses Keprotek stretch panels in areas that are the least likely to contact the ground in a fall. Between these and the supremely supple leather, the suit is flexible and remarkably comfortable. In areas that require stretch panels, but would be unsafe to use anything but leather, Spidi employs elasticized panels to permit a useful range of movement. Here’s a close-up view of the left shoulder flex panel. These panels are created by attaching leather to stretched Lycra sheets via rows of stiches and they can be stretched up to twice as long as their resting configuration. Elasticized leather panels are also used just above the knees … … and in the lower back. To keep the rider cool, Spidi employs two approaches. First, and most obvious - are the rows of die-cut perforated leather. Depending on their location, these perforations can be very dense with smaller holes or very sparse with larger holes. This is also done in the interest of safety since more holes means there’s less material to keep the leather together in a sliding type crash. The front of each Spidi T-2 Wind Pro suit is highly perforated. The second method Spidi uses to cool the rider comes in the form of a full-length mesh liner. This liner keeps the leather away from the wearer, allowing air to pass through and around the body. It’s also extremely useful at keeping the leather itself from sticking to the skin. Further enhancing the suit’s ability to keep the rider cool, a pair of intakes have been installed in front of each shoulder where a great deal of air can be expected to enter while the rider is in a full tuck. A look at how the suit is assembled reveals several rows of stiches in all of the right areas. Various stitching techniques are employed to hide critical seams from exposure to the pavement. Furthermore, some seams are protected by additional layers of leather on the exterior of the suit. CE-certified impact armor is employed in the shoulders, elbows/forearms, knees and hips to reduce the chance of injury in a fall. In particular, the knee protectors can be moved up or down for a perfect fit over the wearer. To facilitate the use of Spidi’s Warrior Chest Protector, a separate pocket has been sewn into the front of the suit. This negates any need for straps to hold it in place. We also found it useful for other popular brands of chest protectors like those from Alpinestars or Forcefield Armour. The back hump is an aspect that the style-conscious rider will truly appreciate. Spidi uses what is simply the largest aerodynamic hump we’ve ever seen on a production leather suit. But the larger size denotes a special use not found on other one-piece leather suits … The hollowed-out aero hump is Spidi Hydroback-ready, allowing the rider to carry 70mL of fluid with him that’s readily available via a straw that fits neatly onto the collar. This is the second rendition of the WindPro suit developed by Spidi with input from their top riders in MotoGP. Spidi’s T-2 is ready for the road or the track, are you?

  22. Don’t miss out on this killer Alpinestars suit sale, sizes and availability is limited so call us now! These particular US sizes/colors are no longer available: Red 36, 38, 42 Blue 36, 38, 42, 44 Black 38 All other sizes/colors are in stock and ready to ship! One outstanding feature of the Alpinestars MX-1 suit is the way it’s put together. Alpinestars tech uses several different stitching methods to assemble the MX-1 suit. Each stitching method is chosen based upon the needs of that specific area of the suit. Critical seams, like the one shown here for the lower back/buttox area, use multiple rows for assembly. In this way, the seam itself is not only more robust, but the stitching is well hidden from exposure should the rider hit the ground. The knees are another area that requires multiple rows of stitching for safety, but flexibility here is also critical in order to allow the rider freedom of movement on the bike. To accomplish these two competing interests, the leather on the knees features the same hidden stitching techniques as used in other areas of the suit, but also employ a leather stretch accordion panel just above the joint. The accordion panel is created by laying leather flat over a piece of stretched elastic material which is then sewn together. Once the leather/elastic material is released from the sewing jig, it assumes the accordion shape you see just above the knee. Using these techniques, the knee joint has the impact and abrasion resistance required while also allowing plenty of flexibility for the wearer. In areas that are the least likely to come into contact with the pavement in the event of a crash, stretch Kevlar panels are employed. These not only permit exceptional flexibility for the wearer, but they also provide a degree of custom fitment so one size is suitable for a wide range of shapes. These Kevlar stretch panels are located behind the knees, in the crotch and along the inside of the arms. The consequences of the suit’s main zipper failing are many. At best, it could end your day (or weekend) at the track, or at worst – lead to serious injury if it failed mid-crash. That’s why Alpinestars employs multiple stitch technology to hold the main zipper in place. This stitching runs along the entire length of the YKK zipper. The leather that runs along the edge of the zipper does double duty with a specific rolled stitch technique that buries the zipper to protect it from impact and abrasion, further enhancing survivability. The MX-1 leather suit was built with lessons learned at the top levels of racing. The suits you see Alpinestars-sponsored riders in MotoGP, AMA and WSBK wearing use many of the same features you find on MX-1. And for all but one rider, Alpinestars constructs those suits using cowhide leather, not kangaroo – which is what they sell to the rest of us.
