  1. Plan on doing Midvale, unless they drop the class next year, then we'll take it to the dirt. Do you know Marion Kelly? He used to run modifieds @ Midvale. He's the friend that I'm building this with. Initially, this build was supposed to be for his 16 yr old son, and doesn't want to put him into anything fast right now, until he gets a little experience. That is if he still wants to or not, cause he's not really showing any interest, so we're not sure if he's going to want to drive it or not. If not, we'll just run it for shits and giggles.
  2. So me and a friend have been building an 02 Dodge Dakota to race at the local oval track. We were hoping to have it done by the end of this summer, and at least race one or two races, but I don't think we'll make it. The truck is currently stripped down to the frame, cab shell, and motor. Should finish welding up the rollcage tonight. We have most of the suspension components, but will need to do some modifications for fitment. I need to finish the wiring harness. Which was not fun! I bet I've removed over half the wiring so far, and have condensed it, along with all the other electrical components, such as fuse boxes, computer, and what not, into a small aluminum box, which will be located inside the cab. Anyway, that's just a small part of what's been done so far, and we still have a ton to go. Although I haven't taken any pictures up to this point, if there's enough interest in here, I can start taking pictures and giving updates on the progress. So let me know. Also, if you have any experience at your local track and want to share some tips, secrets, cheats or whatever, I'm all ears!
  3. Man, I miss being able to use the auto hobby shop on base! Oh yeah, that had to of sucked! That's one thing I didn't like about the shop, everyone else there, knew all your business.
  4. Ah, that makes sense. Only one problem with that, there's plenty of douches with several years of membership! I keed, I keed! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJqJM4xM-oE
  5. Wait a second, all that work, and you lay in the shade?
  6. What significant role does someones join date play in their participation on a forum? Just wondering.
  7. The internet has definitely played a major role in changing the backyard mechanic! But like scottb said, in the late 80's, early 90's we didn't have that luxury.
  8. For anyone that wants to change there's, I used this video when I first did mine. Not sure if it's completely correct or not, cause I didn't have any experience to compare it to, but it worked for me. http://mpora.com/videos/Je4gKpr11
  9. Well, speaking of oil, when I was 16, my dad was showing me, for the first time, how to change the oil in my newly aquired piece of crap 1977 Ford Thunderchicken. Showed me how to properly jack the car up and ensure it is secured with stands, with the whole speech of how you don't want the jack to fail or fall while under the car. Got that all situated and we crawl under the car so he can show me where the drain plug is and how to remove it, carefully draining the old oil into the container without making a mess. So far so good, no spilt oil. We proceeded to move over to the oil filter and he showed me how to remove it, oil up the seal on the new one, and screwing it on enough but not too much, making it easy to remove when the next change is due. Again so far so good. We crawl out for a few minutes to let the oil completely drain. I crawled back under to watch the draining (16, everything was exiting then). I come back out with the container. Me: "Good to go, oils all drained." Dad: "Okay, using the funnel, just pour the new oil in there". After about 3 quarts. Dad: "Um son, did you put the plug back in?" Me: "No, you didn't tell me to." Guess who had to clean the garage floor, and never heard the end of it, for the rest of his fathers life? This guy!
  10. I conceal carried in my butt crack today!
  11. I cannot seem to remember to put them in. When I see someone else putting them in, I'll remember, or after I've already taken off, and begin hearing the wind noise, then I seem to remember. I think I may have a short term memory problem. Wait, what were we discussing?
  12. I don't think I need to concern myself too much with which levers/controls I am applying, but more on paying attention to what's going on behind be, and that will help dictate what I'm doing with my hands and feet.
  13. I know I have a bad habit of not holding the brake lever once i come to a stop and not observing what's coming from behind. This is probably an area in my riding skills that I should make a priority to improve, before I become a victim.
  14. Hoping I can find the races in torrent land when it's all said and done!
  15. I wear mine on a gold chain, around my neck..............................................Like a boss!!!!!!!!
  16. Are these recent? Must still be chilly. Still wearing jackets.
  17. HELLMANNS?????????? That's just like asking for a divorce!!!!!!!
  18. Why, cause the guy is clearly being irresponsible by stunting on a busy public road, with no regard to others safety? Hey, we all can't be cool like that!
  19. I think this thread is trying to tell me something...........
  20. Well, did you peak in the window to find out which little fucker is doing it?
  21. I'm getting used to it. I don't mind a little change, and am pretty confident that Ben will get it all worked out.
