  1. Nice one Doc, sad I couldn't make it to this one. You're showing me just how lazy I am by actually putting effort into editing your footage together.
  2. That's one of the threads I was reading. There's another on triumphrat from like 2011 as well. But yeah, this may explain some of the weirdness from last summer too, like the bike just randomly losing power and so on towards the end of the season.
  3. I tried to get some of these but they're on backorder from the UK warehouse and won't be available in the US for another 10-12 weeks. So pretty much just like all other Triumph parts.
  4. The high RPM probably came from the ECU doing crazy shit after seeing all the high heat sensor readings. I found a thread where a guy had a faulty heat sensor and it caused the ECU to turn itself off/put itself in a weird mode that had to be cleared using tuning software (tuneECU). His bike was idling low then high then low and was also getting the sudden temp gauge spikes to max temp/overheat as well as the temp gauge not reading any bars at all with the bike running, which I had happen last week. And yeah, I have a trailer but it and the tow car are an hour drive away. I may take it down to Dayton as I've heard good things about Joe's which is the local Triumph dealer down that way and also where the bike was born.
  5. Chris said he wanted to see you guys this next season.
  6. Anybody have any opinions on Iron Pony's service dept? Some more weird stuff happened with the triumph while messing with it today. Overheat warning came on maybe 20 seconds after starting the bike, heat gauge was at 20% when it suddenly went to 100%. Cycled power, heat gauge was back to 20%. Bike idled high until the overheat then went back to normal idle. Let bike run for a couple minutes again, heat gauge at 40% and again suddenly spikes to 100% overheat warning. Cycled power, back to 40% heat. Let bike run for 10 minutes, no issues. Heat gauge steadily filled to normal running temperature (70%), suddenly jumped to 100% overheat warning. Cycled power, back to 70%, turned bike on and WHOA it's idling at 5,000 rpm, shut the bike off let it cool a bit and put the cover back on. As far as I can tell the bike isn't actually overheating. There's no coolant boiling over/coming out of the overflow/etc. At this point I'm just going to bring it into a shop and let them sort it out. I have a feeling it might be coolant temperature sensor gone bad after chatting with the head mechanic dude over at Ride1 in Hilliard. Sadly they don't work on Triumphs anymore :|
  7. This is killing me; I'm pumped to get started working on my bikes for winter upgrades/maintenance but I'm sorely lacking in the whole workspace department.
  8. "Yes... it's a minivan, but she let me paint the bird on the hood!"
  9. Haven't had a leak down test done yet but I think I've narrowed down the white smoke to moisture buildup in the fuel tank because I'm a dumdum and let the bike sit near empty for 2 weeks. Smoke went away after about 2 minutes and it was more like vapor than the speed racer smoke-screen smoke I see in all the Harley commercials or blown head gasket videos on youtube. Found a thread on a Tiger website with some of the 1050 owners experiencing the same problem I am and it was the temp gauge gone wild. Going to test me some ohms tomorrow since it will be dark by the time I get home tonight :|
  10. damn you pre-planned family vacation and overlapping this...
  11. Offer accepted! Super sexy front end for 750ss here I come. Anybody got a milling machine around Columbus that wants to mill out 1mm on my upper triple clamp?
  12. offer made on pair of 2001 996s forks that are in good shape. hope they take it.
  13. Yeah that's weird. It was supposed to be just for the one day. I'd call them up and confirm. Has anyone heard from them after the discount price debacle by the way?
  14. I've got the hero4 silver so it may not be the same on the hero3 but I can see live camera feed on my phone using the app when the camera is connected to the phone via wifi. It works without internet/etc. You can also review footage that you've shot that's stored on the camera. You connect the devices kinda like you pair devices with bluetooth. It's not complicated.
  15. Why is my name not on that list **also, might want to put out feelers on a PIRC day since they run on the weekend and mid-o is generally on weekdays. A weekend date may make it easier for new/uncertain folks to show up.
  16. Good to know, thanks. Hopefully the problem won't be serious and I'll just have to pay for a bit of distilled water, vinegar and some new 50/50 (and a little sting of shame for not being able to fix the issue myself).
  17. Oh, forgot to mention white smoke went away. I'm going to bring it into the shop next weekend and have them look at it since engine related stuff is above my head for the moment. If it turns out it's a blown gasket/messed up head... I'm assuming that's an area of the engine they would have had to mess with for the valve check back in the spring? Not going to jump to conclusions here but if that's the case I'm going to raise a little hell.
  18. So... I checked around the head and didn't see any signs of a leak, messed with the radiator again looking for air, no dice, bike still overheating after 5 minutes of being on giver or take. It has only ever done this when it is around 40 degrees out which is weird... did the same thing last year in November on the way to store it for the winter - which raises the question, will the ECU tell the engine to run hotter/leaner when it's cold out to act kinda like a choke? I did notice the bike is idling at a higher RPM than usual. The bike was running hot all summer but not overheating. I kinda wonder if the lower temps are causing the engine to run leaner/hotter and pushing it past the normal (2-3 bars short of max) warm weather temps. I may just say hell with it and bring it into a shop that can plug the reader in and see what warning code the bike is tossing out.
  19. Trailer the bike through the twisties, just to show it who's boss.
  20. No, I fixed the problems and decided to never take the bike back there again. I probably should have said something in hindsight.
  21. 12k/24k service, all fluids flushed/refilled. The guy I bought the bike from said that he had the 12k mile service done but I couldn't find any documentation supporting that so I had Motohio go through everything up to 24k. The two big issues I had right after the service were the bike pissing oil everywhere out of the drain plug (which was only finger tight), and the throttle not put back on correctly or tightened down causing it to stick wide open, which really sucked. I think it may just be air in the system that's being a pain in the ass to get out. At least I hope that's all it is.
  22. http://www.nbcnews.com/video/can-augmented-reality-make-motorcycles-safer-822143555933 a BMW fluff piece about safety of future motorcycles, yet the rider is not wearing any gear, including a helmet. Irony.
  23. The Triumph has an overheating problem all of a sudden, so checked cooling system for air, didn't see any come out, problem persisted. Will burp system again later to see if there's a stubborn bubble somewhere but I noticed white exhaust when I warmed the engine up so hoping I don't have a blown head gasket mixing shit together. With the care the techs at Motohio took reassembling the bike (none at all) this past spring after having the engine apart for the 24,000 mile service, I'm somewhat worried they fucked something up internally too and the gap trip shook something loose. /crosses fingers for just air in system //crosses toes for just air in system
