  1. "Columbus, it's alright" the slogan for the city as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather be living here than Cinci, Cleveland or Dayton. If you want to see the worst of the worst drivers head to Atlanta, and may god have mercy on your soul.
  2. I will say that the 2002 jetta that I've had since 2002 has been pretty good mechanically but the build quality was fairly poor. The electric system is a disaster and the exhaust/random motor parts seem to like to fall off/rust out about every 6 months and that has been happening since it was brand new. Unless VW turned over a shiny new leaf I probably wouldn't consider getting another one myself.
  3. I won't be buying anything alpinestars again, that's for sure. My last pair of gloves wore through the leather within a season and my current boots (soon to be replaced, tried on some SIDI's yesterday and holy comfortable crap they were fantastic) the stitching has come out and some of the leather has actually torn just by walking around in them. bad quality stuff.
  4. Mazda has been doing really well lately too. The 2014+ Mazda3's get around 40mpg highway. I looked at Subaru Imprezas and the 2012+ engine is really anemic. Gas milage isn't bad (35-ish) but it took quite a while to go from 60-75 on the freeway when I was test driving the Sport Premium version a couple months ago. The Mazda on the other hand was pretty peppy. The Legacy has a larger engine than the Impreza so I'm sure it handles a lot better.
  5. I can think of one scenario where wearing a helmet, not "laying her down" and wearing a seatbelt would all result in your death.
  6. I'll be putting mine up soon, 2008 SVS dark grey. It's got a couple little battle scars on the plastic. Haven't landed on a price but it will be less than $4500 for sure. Upgraded suspension too! Once I get things sorted out after the little jaunt down to TN/NC I'll post it up.
  7. supposed to be a bit chilly at 9am so bundle up.
  8. At this point I'll say that unless my flight gets delayed I should be there.
  9. Will be the Striple. Fairings on the SV would be nice on the highway but I think I'd be a double leg amputee by the time I get back to Columbus on Sunday. I'm good to go whenever on Thursday. Figure I'd meet you guys south of Columbus where 71 picks up at a gas station of your choosing.

  11. The two nicer (I use this loosely) places I'd recommend for larger groups would be Fogo de Chao or Buca di Beppo. Elmo's too but good luck getting in. for beer and food, Ram, Granite City or Rock Bottom are all solid choices.

  13. clearly an unprovoked attack by a vicious deer on a hapless motorcyclist.
  14. Going to do my best to make this ride, I fly back into Columbus around 12am Saturday.
  15. "Right after takeoff in my FA18 I saw a flock of geese in my flight path so I had to lay 'er down."
  16. Have the weekend blocked off to head over, not sure where I'm going to stay though. I'm in Indy a lot for work and we generally stay at the JW or the Crowne Plaza... both are fairly pricy if I'm the one paying, hehe. Good part about Crowne is it's right next door to St. Elmo's.
  17. Grats on the bike man, there are two great colors for the Daytona and you got one of them. Tonik, it seems like slippers and a bath-robe would be more comfortable on your gas powered lay-z-boy.
  18. I sure photograph well now, guess my diet is working. It's even turned my bike into an Italian.
  19. thanks! I'm a little sore, found out my lower right side is where I landed because it's a bit tender but not bad. I reseated the bar risers yesterday and I don't think they were bent... everything seems straight again. A new shift pedal is on the way from fleabay. It's really unbelievable to me how lucky I got. I keep feeling like some horrible thing is going to come up; must be survivors guilt.
  20. They were nice enough to lend us a socket wrench to bend my shifter back into a usable position. They got a good show at least, and didn't have to pay to see it.
  21. Here is the corner, for reference: http://tinyurl.com/mzxhcva
  22. I was pushing myself on the new bike and entered a hairpin a little too quick. Felt the back end start to kick out, stood it up and rode it over the soft bank instead of laying down on the road, was probably only going about 15 mph at that point. Stupid mistake on my part. Found out where my comfort level lies for now though haha.
  23. the new bike. need a new set of bar risers and a new shift pedal and she's as good as new, not even a scuff on the tank.
  24. Great ride guys, minus the little romp in the grass I took. No damage to me, no notable damage to the bike. Good times.
  25. there was a short shower here in columbus at 2am and 6am, they didnt last for more than 5 minutes each though. i see sunlight peeking through clouds right now.
