  1. I read a follow up article to this, but can't find it right now. It said he works at a military base in the Indianapolis area and had the 48 bombs, 2 hand guns, 2 black rifles, schematics/plans for a military base, and additional bomb supplies in the car. It said he was planning on blowing up a "Seal training camp". They picked him up heading westbound on I 70 west of Columbus. The article said it was "unclear" where he was coming from when he was stopped. (May have been a Ranger training camp, I really don't remember)
  2. I took an accident report in 2012 from a young man whose dad bought he and his brother 2012 M50's. The dad came to the scene and told me he went to Ohio Motorcycle to get a deal on the pair of bikes for his boys. He said he told the salesman he was paying cash and wanted to know what type of deal they would give him. He said he was told that the cost would be MSRP plus dealer prep. and not a penny less. He said he went to Iron Pony and they made him "a hell of a deal" on the pair.
  3. Sorry, I have a bad habit of posting before I look at the original post date (or reading the entire thread).
  4. Officers aren't able to cite a driver in a non-contact accident if the officer didn't personally witness it. They could cite the one involved in the accident with failure to control however. My guess is that if they didn't cite you, they were actually taking your story and the story of the witnesses into account. The officer that said the driver would be cited was just flat out incorrect. As far as the video, you will need to put in a public records request with the Columbus Police. If you call 645-4760 they can direct you to the correct people to speak to. There is no monetary value that allows officers to run with lights and sirens (I assume that is what you mean by running code). No officer in Columbus is going to put their ass in a trick bag over a property damage only accident by running with lights and sirens (unless they are just dumb and inexperienced). We have an EXTREMELY limited EVO (emergency vehicle operation) policy, and property damage just doesn't fall into that policy. Officers will run with lights and sirens to an accident if there is the potential for life threatening injuries or if someone it trying to hit skip. Our first priority is to render any aid if possible to the living. But if it is a fatal accident, you are correct, our obligation is to secure the crime scene by shutting down the intersection and directing traffic.
  5. Not sure if it's OK or not, but I add STP carb/injector cleaner to very other tank in my FZR. I have been doing this for a few years with no trouble.
  6. By the way, I didn't get the feeling he was the computer type after talking with his buddy that was riding with him. He probably isn't a member here.
  7. She was drunk, and he was riding without a motorcycle endorsement or any safety gear. He had on sun glasses (11:20 PM), T-shirt, shorts, and Airforce 1 shoes (untied). Should live, but minus a leg (+ whatever head injuries he has).
  8. Why doesn't one of the Northwest Ohio people run to Van Buren and get a picture next to the one on 613? Edit...Sorry, I thought this post was older than 1 day.
  9. This survey was taken by 15,000 officers from across the country. http://www.policeone.com/Gun-Legislation-Law-Enforcement/articles/6183787-PoliceOnes-Gun-Control-Survey-11-key-lessons-from-officers-perspectives
  10. Thanks you fucks! I just found this this morning and now my wife is pissed at me for reading this and not helping her with the kids. This was extremely entertaining!
  11. I blame the guns! The sad thing is that if that were Ohio, the most the 14 year old would veg is juvenile life. Which means IF convicted, he will be locked up until he is 21 in juvenile lock up then be released with a sealed record.
  12. Doesn't the last sentense say Suzuki will repurchase CANCELED DEALERSHIP's motorcycles, ATVs, parts...etc. That tells me these are motorcycle dealerships also. I don't know about you, but I have never seen a Suzuki car dealership sell motorcycles nor motorcycle dealership sell cars. I may be missing something, because this is the first time I have heard about this.
  13. I was laughing by the second paragraph because I knew what was coming. A quick Youtube search may have told him that even the little ones will fight back.

I'm not saying it doesn't exist to some extent, but it certainly isn't the Blue Line Code Of Silence everyone thinks it is. I'm not saying I wouldn't give an officer a break, but I will give just about everyone a break. I hate writing tickets because times are hard enough as it is. Think about someone who is barely scraping by day to day then throw in a $140 ticket on top of it. Officers aren't doing anything other than making life that much more difficult for them. I write tickets when my hands are tied but not if I don't have to.

Clearly, you work for a department like ours. Our IA will hang an officer out to dry in a heartbeat! There is nothing else to know. I am not one to jump to conclusions where video is involved because you don't get the whole story. That being said, you have the obligation to maintain assured clear distance ahead, PERIOD. If you run into someone from behind, you are at fault. There are no outside environmental circumstances that relieve you of that responsibility. If it is wet, you are required to give more room/slow down. If it is icy, back off. Foggy, back off. I've had my fair share of ACDA accidents...it happens (not on duty). That is why they are called accidents. If they were on purposes, everyone would go to jail. He should have just taken his lumps, he wouldn't be fired or relieved of duty. The worst that would have happened (probably) was a ticket and maybe a piece of paper in his IA file. Now however, he is looking at serious discipline. Common misconception! I do my best not to break traffic laws (except speed...department already know, I had a boat-load of tickets to explain on my background investigation) because I don't want tickets. One of the Central Ohio posts of the Highway Patrol actually has a competition to see who can write the most tickets to LEOs and family members.
  16. We have a Toro's chapter in Columbus, and a large number of them as well as their associate clubs are sport bike riders.
  17. I was just on Speed TV's website and it has new episodes of AMA Super/Sportbike, Motocross, World Superbike, and Moto GP (all flavors) listed as current programing. Granted, some of it is Speed HD (which I don't have), but it is out there.
  18. I'm still riding as long as there is no rain in sight. The coldest has been 25 when I left work in the morning.
  19. All of the 220 versions that I read about today require 3 40 amp double pull circuits. It seems like a lot of power, and some of the reviews stated that they were still unable to produce a sustained amount of hot water for any length of time without switching to low flow shower heads and faucets. That was my concern and part of the reason form my original question. I don't know if people were just bitching to bitch, or if it is a legitimate concern.
  20. The 2 showers at the same time shouldn't be a huge issue. My kids both are on the YMCA swim team and both usually shower there after practice. During the summer it shouldn't be an issue at all due to incoming water temp. I just want the peace of mind just in case. Craig The contractor did tell me that they need to be on an outside wall. Again, this shouldn't be an issue because it is going to go in the unfinished laundry area.
  21. Actually, our existing water heater is about 1/2 way through its life cycle. However, we are finishing our basement and it seems like the tankless SHOULD be less likely to cause issues like a bursting tank. I know there are still the pipe issues, but I would have that with a tanked unit also. My biggest concern is having enough water to run 2 showers (from time to time) simultaneously with the dishwasher or washing machine running. I work nights and my pre-teen daughter tends to take 20 minute showers when I'm not home. It wouldn't be an issue if she was the last to shower at night, but my boys go after her, so they get the shaft. Also, it would be nice for guests also.
  22. Does anyone here have a tankless water heater? If so, what do you have? What do you like/dislike? Gas or electric? We are looking at putting one in, and I have read good and bad reviews for all brands and sizes. So, I was hoping someone would have some good input. Thanks.
  23. Then they are misinforming you. Your eyes can not commit a trespass. If you are legally in the spot (meaning in a public place), you are not doing anything illegal looking into a vehicle on a public street. The same applies to someone standing on your sidewalk and looking into your window at your naked spouse. While you are in a private place, you have your windows open for anyone to view. As long as they are on public property, they can stare all they want. It is your responsibility to close your curtain to gain privacy. They are legally in the spot they are in by being on the sidewalk. Now, if they walk onto your lawn, that is a different story.
  24. You have zero expectation of privacy in your vehicle on a public roadway.
