  2. I should be there on friday 7/6. The bike is torn apart, getting new suspension on tomorrow/thursday. (ohlins ttx! ) Is there going to be anyone there on friday that can help me set up sag, etc?
  3. Woooot! Weather was awesome, and had a great day! BTW: did anyone get the contact info of the photographer who was there today? Thanks.
  4. ill be there, in A group on a red 600RR
  5. Its not unsafe. There was an independent investigation which concluded that motegi and the surrounding towns are completely safe. The food and water is also completely safe. There was more background radiation at sachsenring in germany than there is at motegi. Why didnt these pussies boycot that race?
  6. get the one that fits your head better. The shape of the crown of the x-11 meant a medium was too tight on me and a large would move around a bit too much. rf1000 fit my head perfectly, very happy with it. (except that the rf1100 came out not too long after). Take the cheek pads out if you arent sure, its the best way to really be sure of the fit where it matters most. I was ready to buy an x-11 thinking the rf1000 was too tight, but turns out it was just the cheek pads.
  7. PM sent to DTM Brian! Dont piss in my tank! Thanks guys!
  8. I just (finally) got myself a Bazzaz for my 600RR (which will have a full exhaust and air filter coming at the same time), and will be needing to dyno tune. Anyone know of a good shop in columbus with a dyno that can tune the bazzaz? Cheers!
  9. anyone make it? monday wasnt bad.. morning was wet and slippery, but the afternoon dried up and we were able to have some fun out there. Today (tues) was miserable. cold and non-stop rain. ended up just staying in the garage and BSing the whole day.
  10. i'll be there monday and tuesday... hoping for good weather. I'm on a red 07 CBR600RR, will be in A group.
  11. and Erik Buell is one of the biggest douchebags around. He can suck it, and his ugly ass bikes can rust.
  12. i'll be there on both the 6th and 7th (as long as this cold i have doesnt get worse...). Got a garage, with plenty of space if anyone else is looking to share. Didnt get a chance to meet any o-r people last time (8/10-11). I'm on a red 07 cbr600rr. PM me or come and find me in the paddock!
  13. I'm confirmed for both the 6th and 7th. I have a garage, and have some space if anyone else is looking to share.
  14. I hope to be there for both the 6th and 7th, but not 100% sure yet.
  15. I'll be in novice on the 10th, and may try to bump up to intermediate on the 11th if all is going well (i ran intermediate on my last track day last year, but this is my first day on the track this season, gotta work the rust out). I'm on a red CBR600RR ('07)
  16. I'll be there for both days, and hoping the weather cooperates! I reserved a garage, so have room if anyone wants to share.
  17. Cheers guys! I'll be giving Reuben a call sometime soon. Thanks Brian and Dub for the offers of help. I may try to drive over there myself, depending on timing and work schedule, but I'm sure i will at least want to pick your brain for setup/etc soon (and that'll be x2 if/when i get some more suspension work done on my CBR for the track)
  18. thanks for the tips guys. Is there anywhere more local to columbus? Also, any opinions on the Department of Suspension guys? They set up the stock suspension on my CBR at a mid-ohio track day last year, and seemed quite good. They are also near my company's office in michigan, so i can think of an excuse to go up there and expense the miles
  19. Hi all, Just picked up my new(ish) sv650, and it is immediately obvious that the suspension is rubbish (not that it came as a big surprise or anything). Is there a good shop around dublin/columbus that can upgrade the forks? Im thinking of cartridge emulators, springs and heavier weight oil.. (i know a lot of folks swap to a gsx-r front end, but i think this will be slightly more cost effective for my needs). Probably going to replace the rear shock as well, but thats something i can handle myself (im not really equipped to drop the forks and tear em down, etc). Cheers!
  20. so, whats a good supermoto that you guys would suggest? i'll take a look, though my impression is that it wouldnt be very comfortable for long trips (or have much of a range on one gas tank).. I got a chance to check out an 08 Aprilia Tuono today (they have one at Honda East in Toledo, asking $9k new), and its a great looking bike, but the shape of the seat wasnt really comfortable for me. Which is just as well, because i otherwise would have been really tempted to throw down for it, and its way above my planned budget...
  21. Yea, the Tuono is very cool. only problem is im not really feeling the style of the earlier models, and the latest model is still too expensive. even the earlier models, all ive found locally is an '04 and theyre asking $6150 (an orange one on craigslist). Riverside Drive? I ride that pretty frequently. Its alright. not great, but the best ive found in town so far. but its pretty short and not really very twisty. BTW: any good dealers in the Toledo area? I'm going to be up there for work tomorrow, and might stop by and check a few places out, see what they have.
  22. haha, ill keep him in mind if that need arises!
  23. I'm at a bit of indecision here... I currently have an 07 CBR600RR, which i like a great deal. I try to do 4-8 track days each summer, work schedule allowing, and this bike is brilliant on the track. I also like to ride around town and find some nice roads (which unfortunately takes 1-1.5 hrs just to GET to any halfway decent riding). I went out for about 7 hours last sunday (~3+ hrs of just highway slab then a few hours on a fairly fun twisty road), and afterwards i was hurtin (knees and ass mostly, but also a bit in the neck). I've considered it several times before, and im back at looking to add a 2nd bike for everyday riding around the city/commuting/getting out to some fun roads away from the city and even some longer distance touring. BUT, im not sure what to get... I think i'd like a naked (or mostly naked) sporty bike. Im thinking a used SV650/SV1000 (naked) or maybe FZ6, or ?? Ideally around $4k, so i can keep the CBR for track duties. Any opinions? Will i be satisfied with one of these on twisty roads, and still comfortable on the way there and for longer trips? Im not too worried about the wind on a naked bike (though i have never ridden a naked bike on the highway, how bad is it?), as the CBR doesnt exactly give me much wind protection unless im in full tuck, and thats way too uncomfortable for long stretches of highway. OR, i could sell/trade the CBR in and get something newer, possibly triumph street triple R, or Kawi Z1000, or ?? Will i be happy with one of these bikes on the track? I know a lot of people run similar naked bikes on the track, but i really like the 600RR... I'm leaning towards the used and cheap bikes, but i dunno.. I cant find any naked SV at the dealers around here, so i havent had a chance to even sit on one... i kind of like the FZ6, but the v-twin on an SV is pretty appealing for street use. if i went FZ6 i might remove the fairing and make it fully naked... looking for any feedback or comments for anyone who has either faced the same decision or ridden several of the kind of bikes im looking at. Cheers!
  24. Cheers mates, thanks for the welcome! didnt know there was a bike night tomorrow (tonight?). doubt i can make it this time, gots a lot of stuff to do (got a few business trips coming up). Next time! Thats all you really need to know, though, eh? not that im a limey or anything. I am Irish though (and living in Dublin is a complete coincidence).
  25. 'evenin all, I've been meaning to join up here for a while (particularly since you cant really do any quality lurking here...), and finally got around to it. I live in Dublin, been in the area for about 3 years now. previously lived in Japan (Chiba), Colorado (Boulder), California (Santa Monica), and Minnesota (Minneapolis, my home town). Really miss the great roads in the CO mountains! I've been riding for about 7 years, have had my current 07 CBR600RR for 2 years now (this will be my 3 season with it). My last bike was a 91 CBR600F2. Quite a difference a few (OK, 16) years make. Cheers!
