Found a dead one in the backyard this morning with its eyes gone. Looks like the local red tail hawk’s diet has progressed from doves (appetizer) to squirrels (main course). one down, four to go. 👍

sort of like Frame sliders for bicycles? I guess it makes sense with the price of some High-end bicycle parts. 👍

Highly recommend the museum in Anamosa. We were there in 2016. 👍

Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Road. Do the loop counter-clockwise and On iron mountain road you’ll see Mt Rushmore Through the trees to the north. We stayed in Deadwood for six nights and did day trips from there. We stayed at the Hampton, but friends on other trips have stayed at the Holiday Inn. Everything is within walking distance from either place. Just about every road out there is a good ride. Watch for Bison in and around Custer State Park. They’re big and fast, and will run across the road in front of you in a heartbeat. One nearly took out the couple we were with going up iron mountain road.

I was also going to suggest avoiding Chicago. We hit a lot of traffic rolling through there on I-90 a few years ago on the way to South Dakota.

To keep the game moving, your photo is good. play on. New challenge? -
I normally carry motorcycle jumper cables but have only ever used them to jump someone else’s bike. I won’t wait so long next time. Luckily mine took a dump in my garage, not on the road. 👍

New Yuasa battery arrived for Strom while we were out riding the Wing. Filled the cells, let it sit, charged it. Will install tomorrow. 👍 The old one was the original battery, so it’s 8 years old. I know, it should have been replaced sooner, but that’s another story. Now I need to see if my car mechanic wants the old battery to recycle the core.

Why must you persist? If you don’t want to eat it, don’t. I ate it and it was okay. And there is no need to disparage people in West Virginia just because you’re bored. Why don’t you actually go ride a motorcycle ? Oh right, you don’t actually have one? see, I’m not just being nice. 😂😂😂

Honestly, It was okay. If I go there again, I’d get a sub. The ride there and back was great, however. 👍

It is similar to the one in Mesopotamia but newer. This store just opened a year or two ago. -

I thought the photo needed to be taken after the challenge was announced ? just looking for clarification 👍 -
Ditto. I also have the Progressive coverage. It’s only $10 per bike.

Ordered a new battery for the Strom. Went to grab a photo tag for the VStrom board and heard “clicking” of a weak battery. It fired, and I went for the tag with my jumper cables in the top case, and just didn’t turn off the ignition. It was 8 years old so it’s well beyond it’s normal lifespan. I try to buy locally, but Amazon had same Yuasa high output battery for 25% less. 🤷🏻♂️ Oh well....

Change of plans. I cancelled my room at the Gap for week after next. May try again in the fall. Life gets in the way sometimes. 🙄- 67 replies

Welcome from Vermilion. 👍 Loudonville and surrounding areas are my “go to” place for many day rides.

Durk, check the GL1800riders board. There are usually a number of Wings for sale. If you look at an older one, try to go 2005 or newer. 2001-2003 had a frame weld recall you need to make sure was completed, and pre 2005 had radiator overheating issues in very hot conditions. Also, there was a brake master cylinder recall a few years ago for all models up to 2012 if memory serves me. Not everyone did the brake recall so I’d ask specifically about it. These things last forever, so don’t worry if you find one with what seems like high miles. Many go 150,000 or more with just wear items replaced. There is a guy in Lima who put over 500,000 miles on one and it was still running. Mine has 77,600 miles and is barely broken in.
