  1. geez... we've been trying to exchange military personnel since back in the 80s, and China refuses. They are willing to come and see all our stuff when invited, but will not return the favor. China is closed to foreign military. (closed to any that are NATO or Western, anyway.)
  2. And I guess the Google guy's sign on the side of the van is working out also:
  3. Loaf of bread, watch your fingers...
  4. Honda CB 900F2 Bol D'or I don't know which year edit, oops, already answered, I see that now, the two are very similar bikes nothing to see here, move along...
  5. It's ok after you've seen where the bad spots are. Not just goop on the road, but some pavement torn up in places, and areas where the trees and drop offs are a bit close to the road for hitting it hard. There is indeed at least one spot you really should crawl through and pick your way carefully. And yes, the part North of 78 is narrow roadway in some places. South of 78 it's really nice all the way to the river (or was that way last year). I'll ride it anytime, I ran it a lot last year. edit: the people that have been down 555 so far this year, said it was still messy with sand, salt, gravel. I don't know when it will be considered a reasonably clean road yet.
  6. Being a fan of late night sci-fi channel, I've seen it many times. And looky, it's on google video, all grainy but free for all to see. (you have to click the title up at top to open another tab or window, google videos don't play in threads here) http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9005367754264973286
  7. Actually, the last time I looked, the number one contributing factor in motorcycle fatalities was alcohol, the famous drinking and driving.
  8. Not quite loving it, but ditto... http://www.ohio-riders.net/showthread.php?t=24893
  9. They are sized by grip length and diameter, it will have to match. It might have tiny little markings on it that indicate what length/diameter series it is. Might want to take one out and match it up. Assuming that all are the same length and diameter. Never seen one put on with pop rivets before, heh...
  10. How to tell if a wrist is sprained or broken: Your wrist is probably fractured rather than sprained if you have: persistent pain swelling near the wrist changes in finger movement numbness It's painful for you to bear weight on the injury, touch it, press on it, or move it. It can be hard to tell the difference between a wrist that is sprained and one that is broken. If you have fallen on an outstretched hand and your wrist hurts, be sure to see a doctor to find out if you have any broken bones. Scaphoid fractures that are not treated properly can lead to long-term problems. edit: I've had to give in and get x-rays twice in the last two years, for bad sprains or swelling. Found nothing broken, but it was worth it so I could forget about that.
  11. Every bike is different, but I think you've pointed it out already. The bike is designed for a average 180 pound rider, and not one sitting forward either. That will effect the rear braking. It should work better with a heavier rider, or with the addition of a passenger. You can check the rear rotor and make sure it's got a good surface on it. As in not rusty or stuff on it. Like rust, wax, grease, chain lube, etc. Maybe clean it with something proper and see if it helps. The R6 service manual does not say what or how to clean the disc rotor. The owner's manual, however, says to "...clean the brake discs and brake linings with a regular brake disc cleaner or acetone,...". Do not soak your skin with acetone or brake cleaner, nor breath acetone fumes. Use it with adequate ventilation. There is a thing where gunk builds up behind the piston, and it will drag, or slowly lock the piston to the rotor. But I wouldn't expect it on a newer bike. There aren't many reasons why a rear would lock easy, I guess I'm a bit stumped. I've seen it with drum rear brakes, but not disc. I'd rather not get into the front or rear or both brake argument. It's a brake, learn to use it for what it's worth. And it's worth a lot, or it wouldn't be there.
  12. Jegs has some, probably Moroso brand, they might have to order it: http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/KeywordSearchCmd?storeId=10001&catalogId=10002&langId=-1&N=0&Ntt=dzus&Ntk=all&Nty=1&D=dzus&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchpartial&Dx=mode%2Bmatchpartial&searchTerm=dzus Any aircraft supply would have them at a premium price. They are made by Southco
  13. I crunched some Antarctica data based on records of the last 50 years, vs worst case global warming. And to completely melt the ice there, would take approximately 1600+ years. And that would only bring the temperature UP to... 32F, freezing on the average... Not happening.
  14. Could be worse, at least it wasn't her Father calling... *cough*
  15. lol, I get down to Florida all the time, I know exactly what you mean with those car washes. They have so many accidents around those, they have to go out and shut them down. And they really do have trouble driving in the rain in Florida. It gets super slippery on the wet roads, sometimes, and they act like it's snow or ice.
  16. Looking for news articles on this one, and found this instead, two down in Ashtabula, after girl turns in front of them; http://www.starbeacon.com/local/local_story_109012912.html
  17. And I do it well, although it seems where ever I go it says "RC51 John was here"
  18. 19. Welcome! I remember you from the ride. (counts on fingers... yeah, ok, that was you) I like blue bikes. Not to mention I like Hondas!
  20. ok, if it's not obvious, then it's up to the volt-olm meter to find it. I have seen ignition switches go bad. You might try a shot or two of ignition switch lube/cleaner, and see if it gets better. But considering it's a tail light/brake light thing, I'd replace it for safety.
  21. Yeah, not one of us remembered to bring a camera. And all the cellphones with cameras didn't do nuthin. Not one pic?...
  22. ah ha, there you have it... drunk, helmet not fastened, going really fast --> the damn thing blew off and he wrecked...
  23. hahahahaha, are they all British bikes? Do they think you're the Scott Oiler sales guy?
