  1. Valve inspection, wheels installed, plates renewed. Quick little shakedown run up to triple digits and all is good. Once again no balancing. I just left the weights that were on the wheels prior to my tire change 🤷‍♂️.

  2. I removed more paneling and the arm rest brackets Amanda said she would never use. Reinstalled the giant wind deflectors, which are hideous but very effective. Changed the oil and filter. Rode it to work yesterday. Turned 27k on the ride home. Also rides like a dream at 85mph.

  3. Began the process of spooning on some new shoes for the Wing last night. Just removed the tires lasts night. I spooned the new ones on today. Pain in the butt to spoon off as well as on, but new tires are on.

  4. I've wanted an adventure bike for a while. I've ridden many gravel roads on the Goldwings, Connie, dirt bikes, and sport bikes. I came across a leftover 23 Husky, so I finally pulled the trigger:

  6. at 1200 miles I made the change today to synthetic oil on Sunny2.0. Motul 7100 20W-50. And she is purring like a happy cat. So I wandered around a bit to feel her out and man, does the DR like the 20W. Shifts like butter. Ready now for leaving next Monday for a week in Appomattox VA and the Horizons Unlimited event there. After that? The Yukon and Alaska! I sold what’s left of the old bike along with the unused parts from the new bike to a fellow DR650 enthusiast who has the tools and capabilities to rebuild motors. He sent me pictures of the old lump. As suspected, the cage on the main bearing failed. Somehow bizzarrely, no apparent damage anywhere in the motor other than some scoring on the crank. He’s replacing the bearing a confident she will run again!

  7. Woke mine up from its winter nap yesterday. Needs a new front tire before I leave for Texas on may 5th. Just turned 100,000 on the clock when I put it away last fall

  9. Bought this one a few weeks ago because my standards are low and why not... Actually, I let the wife pick it out with the only criteria being rear seat comfort...it came with a $700 Mustang Touring Seat. I also considered the weird 2014 Valkyrie F6C even though stock tire sizes are basically out of production. It was cheap, like new with low miles, so why not...

  14. Replaced the dealer installed new Bridgestone Battlax Sport Touring T32 Rear that was installed per my request as part of the sales deal with Iron Pony. ONLY 3,875 miles and WTF. What Bad luck with that choice. So Today I Installed a good old reliable Metzeler Tourance.

  15. I mounted the speed sensor more permanently on my lower fork leg using Sugru, same as the old bike. The tape will hold it in position until the Sugru cures, about 24 hours then put one of the new decals on the topcase to make it official

  16. @Tpoppa I was just telling some people yesterday that I rode past the Big Muskie Bucket for ten years before I knew it was there. The curves in front of it demanded concentration so I didn't have time for sight seeing. We were on a ride one time and you were having some hand issues that wouldn't let you ride for as long as we usually did so we stopped there. Now it's always the first solo ride of every season for me to shake the cobwebs out. I'm thankful for that experience.

  17. When I got my '16 BMW SXR all I wanted was the quick shifter/auto blipper because of my hand injury. The bike had cruise control and heated grips which I really didn't want or need at the time. Now I need them on every bike and a heated seat is on my list of next wants. I don't care if a bike has character or is too refined. I want it to be competent, I'll provide the character.

  18. It's almost impossible to get over 84 ft/lbs with a naturally aspirated I4, that why they need to be revvy because they can't compete with torque numbers. I really don't know how this 201 HP bike is going to go through corners yet. The first 200 miles had to be ridden under 7,000 RPM then the next 400 miles had to be ridden under 9,000 RPM. They just told me today that I need to stay under 11,000 RPMs until the bike reaches 1,000 miles, after that I can use it at will all the way to 14,600 RPM. The amount of self control this takes is unbearable.

  23. Upgraded the suspension on the Street Twin. If I could only keep one motorcycle it would be this one. It's engaging, fun, handles well (even before the Fox Shocks), sounds great, and has character for days. It has a vintage racer vibe, and responds really well to proper rider inputs.

  26. If you two would get a newer wing you could use them to deflect warm air from the radiators on you in the cold, or block it in the heat. Durks radiator air flows ass backwards. Paulys may too.

  27. Both. Closed: Directs air further away from pilot and passenger. Open: Redirects air onto pilot and passenger.

  33. So I picked up this harbor, freight $99 bead breaker seems to do the trick with a a little bit of rubber on the tip, so it don’t scratch the rim and lube the rubber good with some baby oil fixed the ATV tire in no time. I’m a carpenter I know what I’m doing!

  34. Maine is almost an iron butt each way. If you are trying to do something in less than a week I would suggest Vermont and New Hampshire. Closer and way better roads. Maine is kinda bla when it comes to fun roads. Great scenery and food but roads not so much.

  37. Spent some time pulling more cabinet facing off the Tupperware. Almost there and thought about going all the way, but my fingers started to protest. Two fat blisters on my thumb and index fingers quelled my enthusiasm. Very pleased with the way its looking so far.
