  3. Clean it well. Remove battery and bring inside on a tender. Full gas tank with stabilizer. Change oil now or first thing in spring. Which is debatable. Park it and cover it. Do not start it in the winter for the hell of it. You will just create condensation inside the engine.

  5. My bike came with a 180/55/17, but my cousin has a set of race take-offs from his 1985 Caprice Classic. Should I use DynaBeads or just slap some hamsteak in there and hope for the best?

  6. This is where the touring bug hit me hard. This was 10 years ago packed up and ready to ride to Deals Gap for the first time. Can't believe it wasn't all that long ago and now i have probably 90k miles under my belt and so much more of a rider than i was then.

  9. I have only rode with OH and CORE so I always assume that's how everyone else does it. It was odd for me to see others that I've rode with adjust to a different type of group ride. I loved the route and would like to get on the two new to me roads again and I can't wait to show them to new people, Thanks. I would ride with you any time and honestly think you are capable of riding the same pace I ride with one exception and that is corner exit drive. That could be you just keeping the pace down to a mild roar. Another observation is more of a mindset thing since you have mentioned it more that once, in my opinion you don't need a sportbike or track tires to ride a fun pace on the street. I ride an "adventure" bike that has sport touring tires with enough pace to keep it fun. I run almost the exact same pace regardless of the bike I am riding once used to the bike. I rode sportbikes for years and we all really under utilize them on the street.

  10. Green mountain 20" ss fluted barrel, $187. Boyd's Ruger blaster stock, $147. So $334 gets you to a 1" gun at 100yards. I splurged and added the Volquartsen tg2000 match trigger to mine for another $275 but it's not 100% needed. Even so that puts you at $609 for a match grade gun. I didn't feel like it was a bad deal at the time.

  11. Oh, yeah.... you did get suckered into ride leader, but I am glad, as that was the best Ohio loop I have ever ridden. 10/10 would follow you again. I had a ton of fun.

  12. Wash it. Put on center stand. Plug into tender. Make sure tank is atleast half full. That's it, it's always ready to ride. I'm not changing oil unless it's due. I'm not flushing fluids unless its due. I'm not removing the battery, that's what the tender is for. I'm not putting tires on wood blocks, that's silly. I'm not covering it up because that just invites critters to call it a home. We are parking them for maybe 4 months. Not like its a very long period of time. People way over think this. Only other thing ill do is put some fresh decon out in the garage.

  14. I always assumed that riding is ultimately a more or less individual activity (outside of 2 up riding which I only do with Pauly in full leather) so even in a group setting, if somebody gets a wild hair up their ass on some particular road or even set of corners they particularly loved, they should go ahead and blow their load and come back when ready. Ideally, communication is desirable but if they're peeling off vs being left behind, I dont think it matters much. I haven't ridden with UP in a very long time but I never minded when he hurt my feelings and left me behind like an unwanted stepchild during a ride.

  15. It is the group leaders decision ultimately. He is the leader, you follow his rules or you drop from the group. You should ask at the beginning if you are unclear, although he should have also told you ahead of time. So, the group leader rules on every OR ride I have been on or heard about are as you describe. Everyone rides at their pace and we will see you at the next turn. But that is not the norm, most of the rest of the world does the conga line thing. We are special.

  16. I was a year-round bicycle commuter years ago when I lived in Minneapolis. I didn't even own a car. Couldn't feel my feet and hands when I got to work at the bike parts distributor I worked for. I'd stand in the hot shower until I felt somewhat human again, work all day, then ride home and get straight into the shower again. I'm not that tough anymore!

  17. Buy a warm, windproof jacket and gloves and keep riding. My work commute is about 20 mins and I can handle it with unheated gear down to freezing temperature. I'm not a die-hard year-rounder but we have nice enough days to ride at least once every couple of weeks all winter. After a couple of rides in the mid 30s, 50o feels pretty nice!

  18. This isn't about me. It's a well established fact that I can't be trusted to act appropriately, it's not that I don't want to act right it's just that I don't understand the difference between the two.

  19. I'm trying to help with keeping the thread diverted into multiple subjects as they should be. Feel free to lay out how a group ride should go though in case others want to understand how things will work if they join in.

  27. Anything other than what the tire/bike manufacturer recommends. Might want to start a thread on that. We will figure it out as we are way smarter than they are.
