  1. Took 1 last big ride before it’s back to teaching. Put down 579 miles today in about 11hrs. Reality starts Monday.

  2. Per suggestion from @what, I've added an emergency contact section to profiles. Completely optional. Only viewable by mods/admins. I don't think I have to explain why this could be extremely useful. Consists of contact name, contact number, and additional info. For instance, I put Carie, her mobile number, and that I'm diabetic. In the event of an emergency, anyone can reach out to a mod/admin with information who can then reach out to the emergency contact. Right now this can be done via thread, PM, whatever. I will soon have another option ready. You can edit yours by visiting your profile and clicking the edit button. You may also see a banner at the top of each page reminding you to complete your profile. Clicking through that should work as well.

  3. On Saturday I bought a Dark Blue Concours 14. It was up in Michigan, 2.5 hours away, and after talking to him on the phone he said there was a bike in Indiana he wanted to buy, and he'd bring the Connie down on a trailer so I could look at it. Well I couldn't pass up free delivery. 19,000 miles. He said the previous owner had dropped it on the right side. There were scratches on the fairing and saddlebag that were poorly touched up. And the muffler is beat up, but those can be had for a dime a dozen since everyone takes them off for aftermarket. I was surprised at how quiet it is. I guess I gotta stop trusting people. "Does it ride straight?" followed by "Yeah, no problems." really means: Yeah it rides straight but the handlebars tilt to the left. My fault for not test riding it. Service manual on order, so I can tear the front end apart and see if anything is bent and get it straightened back out. Or hopefully it was just tweaked and loosening everything up and re-torquing it will do it. I rode it to the BMV on Monday to get all the paperwork done. I gotta be honest, I was expecting "OMG BEST BIKE EVER!" But it was kinda "meh". Yeah, it goes 1st, 2nd, 70mph, but it seems like you gotta really wind it up to get that kick in the pants pull you off the bike feeling that my GSXS has. Maybe it needs that famous Shoodabeen ECU flash? Stock seat sucks balls. I have a used Saddlemen seat coming, but I suspect I will probably go through a few before I find one I really like. Metal rack on order too, so I can use the larger top case from my V-Strom. I do like it though. Haven't tried it 2-up yet, and that's why I bought it. I wanted something better for hauling my G/F and I all over the country at interstate speeds. The V-Strom 650 was no fun at all going across South Dakota at 80mph.

  4. ECU flash is a must. Your welcome to ride mine if you wanna try it out first. Terry's Custom Seat is the only way to go. Again welcome to try mine out. I have a stock pipe on the shelf but honestly once you take your off a realize how heavy it is your going to want a aftermarket. Sucks about the front end. I was kind wondering why a 2010 had EBC rotors on it, by 2010 I think they had the warping brake issue fixed by putting the thicker ZX14 rotors on them. Ask any question if you get in a bind I pretty versed on the model by now.

  5. I never even thought it was top 10. Hell personally I think City BBQ is better. But Barrel House in Lynchburg is tied for best ever in my book. It’s them and Red Barn BBQ in Texarkana. They’ll see something new every time you do the tour because it’s not scripted, you get a different guide each time that has a different job and a different take on things. I’ve taken the tour 10-12 times now and always see something new. Definitely worth mentioning to them. Especially if they’ve not ate at Barrel House. Whiskey Bent Saloon is my favorite on the strip. Followed by Honkey Tonk Central. If Micheal Scott is playing at Whiskey Bent on the night you can go then be there. Kid Rock owns Honkey Tonk Central and is in there regularly playing. Coyote Ugly is a dive but your wife will love you for going in and letting her on the bar. Valet Parking at Hard Rock Cafe is best location and parking on the strip and you can park there if you’re not eating there. Otherwise use Lyft to go. Painters Alley is getting run down but there’s a lot of history there. Paradise Park has the cheapest food on the strip and is pretty good too. Joyride gives pretty interesting tours of the strip on golf carts for cheap. The Johnny Cash museum is really interesting even if you’re not into Johnny. Horse drawn carriages are all over on Fri and Sat, you’ll get some later for that.

  7. i saw this earlier but I didn’t comment because he said family and kids lol. Nashville is my second home but I’ve never taken kids and made a family thing. So I can’t be real helpful. You could do the Grand Ole Opry tour and the Gaylord tour with them. They’d probably enjoy Cooters Garage too. If you’re staying at the KOA, I’m assuming it’s the Yogi’s one, that’s minutes from all of those places and the Nashville Mall. The Mall is actually pretty impressive it’s fucking huge. Biggest one I’ve ever been to. There’s a really good seafood restaurant in there that is a giant aquarium as well. And Johnny Rockets is in the mall as well, Reba is part owner and I’ve seen her there waiting tables and greeting everyone several times. The American Pickers store there at the edge of town is Meh, but the building it’s in is pretty cool. If you ditch the kids and hit the strip then definitely text me or message me. That’s where I go. If you have time, 4-5 hours, one day absolutely head to Lynchburg and do the Jack Daniels distillery tour and eat at Barrel House BBQ. It makes Cram Bones seem like McDonalds. The tour, town square and BBQ are totally worth it.

  8. I just did this, well in Indiana/Illinois. 1. Depends a bit on whether the seller has a lien on the bike. Actually easier if he does though you'll have to do the deal on a weekday. Get a certified check from your bank or credit union. Check with the seller's bank/etc. they will probably want to call your bank to be certain the check is legit. General lack of trust nowadays.:) Be certain your bank will be able to provide that assurance. 2. Title & plates: Most states only require the seller's signature on the title. Some require that the sig includes a notary signature - another reason to do this at the bank, or at a DMV. Ohio does not require the notary for the title. 2A. Most states will provide a "Drive away" permit for people that are taking a bike or car out of state. WV, and probably Ohio will honor that plate (or probably just a strip of printer paper.) The permit is good for anywhere from 7 to 30 days. Check with whatever they call the BMV or DMV in FL. 2B. Depending on the price you get, you might need a notarized statement of the sale price. WV collects sales/property tax when you exchange the title so they charge the NADA blue book price unless you have a notarized bill of sale or same info if the price was lower. 3. Carry on, unless you really want to trust the gorillas in the luggage dept with your helmet. Enjoy those straight flat roads - and the humidity! Good luck!

  11. If blue72beetle were king of the world, then you shouldn't even own a car/bike/whatever unless you know how it works/how to work on it. But that's just, like my opinion, man.
