  1. If you get offended that easily, you're going to have a hard time fitting in around here.

  2. Thanks for the feed back guys. It was more or less supposed to be geared towards women in general coming into the store and getting to hang out and enjoy themselves. The maintenance clinic was an add on we thought would be fun and helpful. Next time I will have a garage party for everyone ! Thanks again, Conor Maguire

  3. I drive a significant amount for my job. I see people border on attempted murder when there's traffic and someone tries to pass on the shoulder, go around cars waiting to get over when a lane ends, etc.... Not the same, I know.... But the "if I can't, you can't" mentality is strong in ohio. I won't outwardly oppose, but I won't aggressively support.

  4. I'm all for more freedoms, but I lean towards Ohio doesn't need lane splitting.More people will be killed and hurt than what the law is worth.I live out here in Hillbilly heaven and we damn sure don't need lane splitting out here and that would goes for probably 95% of Ohio. The other 5% would only need it for limited times during the day,and then it would be more of a nicety than a necessity. California has it for a reason....spend about a week commuting in the Bay Area and you'll understand why they need a lane splitting law.

  5. Also agree, it shouldn't be law.

  6. I did ask if you were a new rider, re read it. Said I assume you're a new rider and ended with a question mark And no, it wasn't condescending, it was real talk. Lane splitting is dangerous if you don't know what you're doing and you'll come across many cars that will try to block you. I don't think it's a great idea to make it law for that reason. It becomes law then every jackass with a bike will do it and most probably shouldn't. Just my 2 pennies though. And you'll know when I'm being condescending or an ass, I don't hide it

  7. My name is Omni I was born in Texas but grew up in Washington state. Army Bratt! I am in the world's greatest Navy and have been for the past 8 years. I just moved, well got stationed out in Ohio and the people are so much nicer here then in California... I could do without all the snow though goodness! There should be a warning label on ohio for how cold it gets for people like me lol. I've been riding for over a year so I guess you can call me a newbie but I can handle my own really well. [emoji41] I've seen a few riders out and about, now trying to make some friends and do a group ride every once in awhile. Thanks, Omni ♡

  8. I was looking at the upcoming construction season on ODOT's site and I saw where 78 from Nelsonville to McConnelsville is going to be paved this summer.I just called the Morgan county garage and they said that it is going to be paved but it hasn't been "sold" yet,so it will be later in the year. This is great news for those of us that ride the western part of SEO!IMO this is the best part of 78 and it cuts right through other great roads that have been paved recently such as 669,377,685 and 37.Also,you can easily link it to other good roads like 792,676,550 and the lower section of 555...all in good to great condition. The very bottom of 555,from Decauter to Little Hocking,is also slated for paving this year. I also just called the Washington county garage and found out that they are paving one of my favorite county roads this year...asphalt,not chipsealed!!!

  11. I wonder what legalizing lane splitting will do for motorcycle insurance rates? My guess is they won't be going down. Also, this could become a money maker for the DMV! First you will have to pay to take a test and pay for a lane splitting endorsement and then, yes, pay every year to renew it. The possibilities are endless!!!

  12. You know me too well, brother. I'll give you a hint. It starts with a 1, and ends with an emergency number.

  13. See, this is how they getcha... "come join the navy - it's not all dudes in stupid hats in the middle of the ocean for months at a time, you get to hang out with women who like bikes too!" Total coincidence that they've got you recruiting, i'm sure.

  14. There are no bright-line rules for corporal punishment, but the practice itself isn't illegal. It is always helpful to: - not leave marks - not injure the child - make it clear to the child that they are being spanked (or whatever) because they did ________ act that you forbid. What courts don't like is when daddy and daughter are arguing, and he slaps her across the face in the middle of an argument and bruises her cheek. The slap isn't the problem, it's the injury, and the fact that it was done "in anger" rather than as an explained and anticipated punishment. You know what I'd like to see more than that mother smacking her kid around? His father having her back on the issue.

  17. Speaking of biking dentists.... When I was a kid, we could ride our bikes with a t-shirt, sweatshirt, winter coats, etc.... Is there a new law requiring adult bicyclists to wear poorly-fitting skin-tight spandex shirts with a number on the back?

  18. States cant even agree what age to let people drive; I wouldn't hold my breath on a big collaborated lane splitting law.

  19. Agreed. If it's going to be legal, it needs to be legal nationwide and there needs to be a huge advertising campaign informing motorists.

  20. Helpful tip to all... When you reach that age where putting mentholated rub on your joints becomes part of your morning ritual, please remember: If you have to put it on your knees, do this AFTER putting on your underwear! This is especially important to those who also ride motorcycles to work...the breeze afterwards will invigorate the menthol's tingling....no need for extra caffeine to wake up when I got to the office...

  21. The lane splitting idea for me stands fine as a grey area. What I think would be a significant improvement in terms of creating some sort of law would be filtering for motorcycles at stop lights.

  24. I don't think he was trying to speak down to you, just giving the cold hard facts. I'm glad you could give us your history with bikes, but the truth of the matter is we all want to see everyone make it home safe, no matter what they ride. I think it was just a suggestion for newer riders, and since we didn't have that history lesson from you, and your previous post made us assume you were one. No harm, no foul. I agree 100% with MT. I also support lane splitting, but not for me. I don't have the miles that would make me comfortable to do that.

  26. Throwing this out there, hate away if you want. You seem like a new rider, I say this because of your other post saying you hope to have your permit this weekend ? New rider. On an R1 and already wanting to lane split? Deadly combination. Lane splitting has some pluses yes, it's also not for new or unskilled riders. I split now, when needed or beneficial. Never had LEO say a thing.

  28. Yes, I think its nice to just host help clinics in general - its certainly not just the ladies that need help lol. I learned everything I know from random people and youtube, but I'm not shy to ask when I need help.

  30. Nobody is making excuses, just outlining contributory causes that are key parts of the problem especially in highly segregated, poor inner cities. We don't see that in suburbia for self-filtering reasons. Watching the TV last night, I'll admit I wanted to pick off a few looters from the roof to make the rest scatter (not that I'd actually do it, but it was an indulgent thought). I watched idiots try to self-justify violent behavior to reporters and then dodge away when they failed to connect with justifiable rationale. It was revealing about how little some people care about anything and will use the most contorted of logic to suit their selfishness. Of course, we've also seen videos of cops behaving very badly and I don't know about you, but I've wanted to punch a few through the screen. That's what these kids feel when they see antsy, under-disciplined storm-troopers hassle them and treat people who look like them wrongly, and then the media either vilify the victims or stir up revolt. "Society" will continue to deal with this forever until we grasp that there are consequences to "I got mine, go F yourselves" social isolationism, opportunistic corporatism and selective politics. Call me a liberal for saying that if anybody wants, but ignoring those factors is fool's folly that will never solve the problem on a social scale. Also feel free to call me a conservative for wanting each and every violent perp to be prosecuted based on any and every piece of footage available. Civil unrest like that cannot be allowed to prevail, or else why do we even have laws?

  31. I believe you lean independent and libertarian and don't seem to have trouble questioning things on both side. That's great, but not everyone thinks that way, or has the examples and fundamentals to be able to think that way. Humans internalize behavior of those around them, particularly during teen years while growing into adults. Like with Tonik's post, that's not justification for shitty behavior and values, but an analytical reflection of how humans learn and repeat past behavior. If all you know is generations of unemployment, disregard for other's investment, hard work and property, poor parenting, drugs, violence, hyper-sexualized materialism and proud stupidity, it's almost impossible to strike a totally different lifestyle on your own behalf and become a success. Some do it, but it's rare. It's how disadvantaged youth becomes destructive and disengaged adults, perpetuating yet another cycle of poverty and social non-productivity. That's what "institutionalized" refers to. It's both things: NONE of the looting and burning and hose-stabbing or anything else illegal last night is remotely justifiable. Those people are thugs, opportunists and scourges on society. That's what conservatives understand very well. At the same time, there are factors, many of them political and capitalistic, that have created that fertile bed for this disease to grow. It's what liberals understand. Both are valid perspectives and I don't trust anyone who negates one for the other, as it speaks about their own inability to creatively problem-solve and not what's being described.

  35. J walking is not a reason to have you're head snapped off by the police. Police need better training and way stricter rules on using deadly force. It will only get worse so be ready if you live in a city with an abusive police force. Why they burned down their own neighborhood I will never understand that. J.S
