  1. Not a point about religion? Really? Seemed to be your sole point. They're more than welcome to list that the owner has diabetes, or whatever. I see no fault or issue that they offer themselves as a Christian-owned business, and as a Christian, I welcome it. It is my "go-to" shop since Southside in Dayton closed down. There's a closer shop to me, but I won't set foot in the place, not even if I'm just browsing, because of their reputation for ripping people off, and the attitudes I got when I DID go in there. The folks all through CCM are ALWAYS friendly, and seem to enjoy what they do. They don't stalk me as I'm walking around, they don't push product on me. They answer my questions, chat, and leave me be. The dollar doesn't seem to be the sole focus, vs. the other shop. The employees at CCM seem to stick around awhile, which may mean that they feel they're in a "good place" that treats them fairly. If they're having a bad day, you'd never know it. I like 'em. I support 'em. Most of that is just the "feel" of the shop overall, and part of that "feel" is the employees and owners. I'm glad that they put it out there that they're a Christian business. More power to them. They make all of us look better. I'm not saying that all good people must be Christian (or Jewish, or anything else). I'm not saying that if you're not connected with God then you're not trustworthy and reliable. I'm not saying that everyone in church is doing what they're supposed to be doing (nor not doing what they're not supposed to be doing). None of that. I'm saying that dealing with a business which presents itself as faith-based is a comfort to me. CCM doesn't have Jesus fish all over the place, nor scripture anywhere in the building (not that I've seen). They don't include a pocket Bible with every purchase. They don't push it on anyone, and its not blatant except in the way they treat people, and thats not a bad thing.

  7. Seriously. Im going to air out some serious issues going on in my family and extended family because i dont really have anywhere else I can. I have 3 People in my life right now who are living hospital life. Im overwhelmed mentally. 1) My Grandma on my dads side who's had alzheimers for the last about 8 years was just diagnosed with cancer and is on hospice care. Shes an awesome woman who was the epitome of what a grandma is. She was a shoulder to cry on, an aspiration of a mother i wanted to be, and essential to my care as my dad was single dad. I lived within 5 minutes of my grandparents (all 3 of them) my entire growing up life. I knew them all very well and am very lucky to have had all of them till well into my 30's. She was one of my favorite and most influential people growing up. I was the first person in our family she forgot, living away from yoru family sucks. 2) My Brother in law. He's been in and out of the hospitcal since august due to pancreatitis complications. He's a mostly healthy guy, active, eats healthy, maybe a bit too much chipotle, but overall healthy man. His pancreas though is shit and we dont why. He is now diabetic and had to have multiple surgeries including one tomorrow to drain the stuff in his stomach and this 6'6" 220lb man has been dwindled down to i would bet around 150lbs due to all of this. I have no clue if any of this was preventable. they have two children, and my SiL is terrified about losing her best friend. 3) My Best Friends Brother who i consider to be my brother as much as i consider her to be my sister. Known them since i was 11. (will refer to him as broter from here on out His family has been plagued with health issues and he's always had a fear of doctors. They lost thier dad in his early 50's to colon cancer, which if he had gone to the doctors more frequently, they would hae caught it and he would liekly still be alive today. Friday, i got a call that they were taking my brother to the ER because his foot was swollen and looked really gross. Turns out he's diabetic and he has ostemyolitis in his foot and they may need to amputate. I was at the hospital all last night and day today THey have removed most of the tissue/muscle/from the top of his foot and are worried the infection is going to kill him. ALL of this undiagnosed diabetes related. I have listened to all his doctors, I sat there with Mom when they asked if they could take his foot when they came out during the surgery. I have traveled this country with Him and his sister, i have walked all over New York City and swam in Missouri rivers with him .. how could this be happening? Mom told them no. Figure something out was all she said.. so they are trying things, but the docs were still concerned this morning. Im still concerned, at the very least, he will not be able to drive normally again, (its his right foot) **TL;DR** All i can say is Go to the fucking doctors. 1x a year, get a check up. Please for the sake of your children, your family and least of all yourself. Encourage the women in your life to get regular checkups to. Mammograms and PAPs despite what the government says SHOULD BE ROUTINE. The mental hell my family is going through on all sides right now is almost to much for me to handle. Whats worse is in the last few weeks, We here at CR have seen others going through their own medical issues and supported each other. SUpport your family as you would your friends. That sounds weird to say, but its true.

  14. Glad they stated there side of the deal. Being Christian doesn't mean they can't do bad things. I know it makes some other Christians feel better to hear that they are a Christian business but to others it can also be a red flag. Like saying 'I would never rip you off'. Simply saying that makes me think you might.

  18. Nice saw. Stihls are great saws. I have been heating my house 90% with wood for the last 7 winters cutting all the wood with a MS270 that I bought new. It has cut a ton of wood and is on its 3rd bar. It still runs great. My boy started cutting last fall with my MS180 and I wanted a saw with more power so I gave him the 270 and I bought a MS362. Right after I bought it the weather turned to crap and have not got to use it. This spring its going to get a good work out the wood supply is taking a real hit this winter.

  20. SE Ohio and WV have some amazing roads for sport bikes. If you're willing to ride a few hundred miles in a day, you may just find sport bike Nirvana. When the weather cooperates there will be plenty of group rides posted. There's a good number of seasoned ride leaders that post on this board, with plenty of knowledge about riding/motorcycles/routes. Get some gear if you don't already have it. Helmet, armored jacket, gloves, and over the ankle boots at a minimum. Armored pants or a riding suit are a really good idea, too. Learn proper riding/cornering technique. Watch this DVD or read the book. Everything you need to know about sport riding is in here http://www.amazon.com/Twist-Wrist-Vol-High-Performance-Motorcycle/dp/0965045021Another good source http://www.sportrider.com/motorcycle_riding/techniques/Do a trackdayPick the brains of veteran riders Don't be one of the guys that wants to show everyone how fast he is, only to crash on your first group ride...never to return. There have been too many of those guys to count. No matter how good of a rider you are or how fast your bike is, there will always be someone better, faster, smoother. Leave the ego at home. Use it as an opportunity to to learn. Ask questions at gas stops, ask someone to follow you though the corners to give feedback, etc. And read this: http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/flashback/122_0911_the_pace_nick_ienatsch/ I'm sure others will chime in with stuff I didn't mention...

  22. It means they hold themselves to a "higher standard" - little different from someone saying that their business is family owned or has been in business for 50 years or some such. Start another thread if you guys want to debate religion and business - this isn't the place for it.

  23. This is Brad from CCM. I wish i would have found this sooner so I could get our side of the story to the public. When we originally spoke with Todd on 10/8 we quoted him $8124+documenation, tax and title on a 2013 V Strom and he would receive the free bags from Suzuki. We also quoted him a windshield, skid plate and engine guards for $821. On 10/18 we spoke with Todd again and he stated that he did not want the stock Adventure bags and that he had been quoted $1100 off at other dealerships if he didn't take the bags. We agreed to match this offer for him. So at this point the bike lists for $8499, we are going to do $1,100 off which puts the bike at $7,399. Now most people don't know this but as a dealer we don't receive a credit for these bags. We have to get them in and try to sell them (Suzuki's policy, not ours.) We don't know how long we will have them so we are investing this money, not sure what somebody will give us for them and not sure how long we will have them. We are taking all of the risk here. So he came into the dealership on 10/27, test rode the bike and agreed to buy. When we went over the numbers he couldn't understand why he wasn't getting $1,100 off of the original price that we quoted. So we explained to him that we agreed to take $1,100 off the list price if he didn't take the bags, this is what we quoted him on 10/18. Clinton County Motorsports has not bait and switched and never will. We are a Christian owned company and do business the way it should be done. We have one of the highest CSI ratings in the country for motorsports dealerships and will continue to do so. Thank you to those above that have given a true representation of our company.

  24. I'm not into the group ride thing, but I could be a final sweep in my truck/trailer with some tools, gas, tie-downs, cooler full of water, basic first aid kit.......you get the idea. I would really be bringing up the far rear, but should something happen the rest of the group could move on knowing help was not too far behind. Just a thought.
