I'm the typical stubborn guy, been having pain in my groin, upper thigh for a while now. Well i have a fairly large mass right next to my groin, on my upper thigh on my right leg. Sharp shooting pain, burning sensation, stiffness, almost positive it's a hernia. I have an appointment this Friday to get it checked out. I'd just like to know if anyone has ever experienced one before? I guess they only way to fix this is surgery. I'd like to think im one of the toughest sob's you'll ever meet, (doesn't every guy ) but when it comes to anything surgery....i'm a pussy. I've heard so many horror stories of shit going wrong, my fear is they'll accidently do the wrong leg, saw it off, something! Bad...of course lol. Anyone know how long the surgery usually last's, how long i'll be down?

I know you guys aren't doctors, or looking for medical advice. Just looking for someone who's experienced one.

Never had one, but hernia surgery is so routine now you will have nothing to worry about man. JUST GO GET IT!! Id say you shouldnt be down for more than a week. Maybe 2 at the most. I guess it just depends how bad yours is. Better try to get some booty tonight! Good luck!

Yikes, sorry to hear that.

My kitten had an umbilical hernia when he was a baby kitteh and I had to keep (gently) pushing his guts back into his belly so he wouldn't get intestinal strangulation. I can still feel the stitches when I rub his belly.

Sorry I have nothing helpful to add. You should call your doc and explain the urgency and try to get a visit sooner. Friday is awfully far away.....

Surgery is no big deal anymore. I've been thru 4. Kinda funny, my last one I had the Dr laughing when they put the gas over my mouth/nose. "Yep, you've done this a time or two" The feeling you get right before you pass out is awesome.

Yeah, i'm gonna get it looked at. Hopefully it's nothing else. My younger brother keeps telling me it's cancer lol. I'm not sure why he likes to talk about himself like that, but to each their own.

Nah don't worry about them cutting your leg off not gonna happen the worst that would happen is they remove a nut.

Wow. That's rather...unfortunate. 2 and a half days away? I think i'll make it. I started having pain almost 2 years ago...what's a couple more days? lol.

Some hernias are simply pushed back and held down till they heal. No surgery. You won't know till it's checked out.

btw, I got serious doubts about medical advice from a motorcycle forum, unless it involves crashing...
You're better off going to Yahoo Health, that's pretty good,
