Who is going to Indy round of MotoGP this year?  It's the weekend of Aug 9th.

I've never been and would like to make it this year.  Appreciate any recommendations, info, tips, etc.  i'll update this thread as i gather more info.

EDIT:  looks like rvtpilot, trmn8tr and i will be leaving the cleveland area (in one configuration or another) on the thurs night after everyone gets off work and head towards indy.  currently, 1 room is booked and will probably not fit any more dudes.  we will, however, be staying at the candlewood suites if you're looking for friendly room neighbors, assuming there are any rooms left by the time you book.  we may do stuff that night we arrive if we're not too tired from driving in the luxury and comfort of my touareg, watching porn and cartoons or a mix of both.  on friday night, we will be partying it the fuck up in honor of the trmn8tr's incoming bachelor's party.  that's right, we are having a small bachelor's party to prepare for trmn8tr's actual bachelor's party.  no plan have been made for that either because planning is stupid, unless it's for attending motogp races, in which case, it is boss.  the rest of the time will be spent recovering in an attempt to actually watch the races we drove all that way to see.

if you wanna get together, post your plans, or message one of us, or whatever.

Go...it's one of the bucket list things you have to do.  Hotels are probably already booked up close to the track so you'll have to drive a little farther to get to the track usually.  We sat in the infield during the infamous hurricane GP that knocked over rows of stupid Ducati bikes.  :D  Check the weather and plan your clothing accordingly.  It appears they don't have the seats we had when we went in turns 6 thru 9.  My alternate was to sit in any of the Vista seats mainly at the end of the front straight.

We've had this conversation, my sweet little Asian crumpet. I am down. We should get together on seat scoping and such. I have friends in the area and can get some hotel recommendations as well.

It's gonna be soo cooooool!

Go. I've been there every year and look forward to going back. The racing, the downtown scene and everything that goes along with it make it a not to be missed weekend. Motorccycles on Meridian continue to amaze me every year. We stay at the LaQuinta downtown for $85/night. I would recommend GA tickets for your first weekend. For qualifying and practice the seating is all GA so you can pick your favorite place to site for the next year. If you ride over, parking in the IRL corporate lot is $20 for the 3 day weekend.

are you going to be in for a night on the town if we can get brandy to go?

Yeppers. So he knows, I am skipping my family reunion to make it, too. More like, it's incentive to not have to go to the reunion at all.

Well I would recommend hitting up Broad Ripple for some bar action but it appears all you old guys would stick out like sore thumbs :p

Indy is an awesome town and it's gotten even better since I lived there back in the day. Never been there for a race weekend

My family reunions are actually fun, and I've been going since as long as I've been alive. But if my parents/brother aren't coming up from Florida then I'm down.

My family reunions were a blast for years and years. But the generation that has taken over running the event has made it unnecessarily political to the point of being almost business like. It's sad really. And at this age, all the cousins I want to see we spend time with throughout the year. So I understand where you are coming from. If it's a great time with family, have at it and truly enjoy it! Otherwise, we will enjoy having you around for the Indyness!

invite is always open.. actually the  red snake was pretty cool...  all bikes are welcome to join the ride they just are not counted as apart of the  world record attempt..

last year i believe we had 233 ducatis and a total of 260ish bikes

Got my Indy MotoGP cherry popped last year. Great time. Going again this year with my brother and brother-in-law.

For the main event, we're in the E "Penthouse" at end of the front straight R1crusher mentions above. But really, the practice and qualifying are as much fun as the race IMHO. For that, we sat on the mounds toward the back of the track (don't remember which turns) and watched and drank.

Motorcycles on Meridian was very cool.

Go and take it all in. This is probably gonna be an annual thing for me.

post-13820-14320339272635.jpg I came back to the bike after a day at the track to find these on it. It was quite funny. Only non-Duc in the lot with them on it. Lol

Have the weekend blocked off to head over, not sure where I'm going to stay though. I'm in Indy a lot for work and we generally stay at the JW or the Crowne Plaza... both are fairly pricy if I'm the one paying, hehe. Good part about Crowne is it's right next door to St. Elmo's.

Went 2 years ago with my boss, road down there and had a blast! We are looking to do so this year and add a few more coworkers on. We just got general admission tickets and sat where ever. Mostly stayed on the grass hills, but for the race sat in the bleachers overlooking turn one due to the screen being there to watch. Didn't make it to meridian, but would like to this year if we go!
