Giving a shout out to anyone in my neck of the woods...early April

Just giving a shout out to anyone in my neck of the woods or plan to swing by this way in early April, say April 4th or April 11th (both Saturdays).  I plan to take my "beast", referencing the Beast from X-Men...mainly because my beast is blue and it is well...a beast (2006 CBR1000RR) down my favorite twisties as long as the weather is decent.  You are welcome to join me, just give me a shout and we can plan where to meet up and all of that detail stuff.

I have a great little trek of twisties, scenary, elevation changes, etc. that will keep you on your toes the whole way for about 50 miles or more.  It is "my little secret loop".  One heck of a ride, just saying.

Hillsboro.  About an hour East of Cincinnati and an hour or so South of Columbus.  (Highland County)

Just checked out where you are from and holy toledo...you are near Cleveland.  Anyways, if you ever head this way, I have plenty of nice twisty roads for your Duc's to gobble up and keep asking for more.

I'm not far from your hood Bob.  I'm south of you here in Winchester.  I have a little maintenance to do on the bike now that the weather is turning so hopefully I can get out a little more this season.

Bob:  If I get the opportunity and the weather looks good, I'd like to join you as well.  Also, if you have any interest, take a look at the LocalRiders site for rides in NKY this summer.  Dice (Rob Giles) should be posting a link to the first LR spring ride pretty soon.  You're about an hour north of the river and could cross over at the bridge in Maysville and meet up somewhere along Rt10.  Some really great roads in that area--10, 62, 165, 1504, 22--and would make a great day loop for us to meet up.  I'm in the SW corner of Hamilton Cty, so about as far as I can go in OH before I become a hoosier or a hillbilly.

What roads are you thinking of riding?

Sweet!!! Yeah, I had planned out a few routes that included NKY (Rte 10 and such), but work and school got in the way.

I have some nice twisty routes local to me (247, 771, 41, etc.)

Yeah, let me know when you are up to weekend rides. I have a buddy who works in Winchester and I grew up near Peebles. So, I am very familiar with all the great back roads.

Yeah, I still have a few small things to do on my CBR and still need to replace the flat front tire on the VTX, but I am ready for summer.

Wild Hogs!!! Let's roll!!! :-)

I have a bead breaker but need a better set of tires spoons.  I also have a wheel balancer as well. :)  Gotta have stupid stuff since there's no one within a 100 damn miles to do tire changes...and it doesn't hurt when racing bikes also. :)

r1crusher,

Good point.  However, I have a couple of local guys, one who can change tires within an hour or so at his house which is about 4 miles away.  He has a good wheel/tire changer system and wheel balancer, etc.  He did my CBR tires last summer.  I went from worn our Michelin PP 2CT's to my current Dunlop Q3's.  I am loving these Q3's.

So, I am thinking of giving him a call soon to take care of the VTX.

Yeah, the more bikes I accumulate the more it is worth it to do as much of my own maintenance as possible.

(Correction: I meant 770, not 771.)

OK.  I finally took "The Beast" out for a quick spin after work yesterday.  A bit chilling, but felt so good to get back on two wheels after 5 months of winter shut-in.  I probably will take another spin after work today.  If anyone is interested in meeting up for a quick spin this evening, just let me know.

I have a funeral to attend today (wife's grandmother) and tomorrow I'm moving my in-laws 36' foot travel trailer back to their campground spot later in the afternoon so I doubt I'll beat the rain to make it out during the week at all at this point.  I still need to get a charge on all the bikes, mower, genny, etc.

OB:  I'll be out for a bit tonight, but you're in the far east and I'm as far south and west as I can go without being a Hoosier or a hillbilly, so never the twain shall meet, at least tonight.  I rode to Two-Wheel Tuesday at the Comet in Northside last night, and spent an hour or two spooning on new Tourances on the WeeStrom today.  Gotta change the oil and filter and refresh the brake fluid and bleed the front/rear calipers tomorrow.  What with the new chain and sprockets and a fork rebuild over the past winter, I should be good to go for the season.

Keep posting and we'll eventually hook up for a ride.  FYI, I'm gonna try to make Dice's Spring Opener Ride on the 18th.

OK, r1crusher.  Sorry for the loss.  Take care and keep in touch.  We will get together and ride soon enough.  The season is only beginning.

Thanks for the condolences, OB.  As it turns out it looks like my in-law wants to shoot for tomorrow morning now so there's a slight possibility that I might be able to get out tomorrow afternoon. :)  I'll try to keep ya posted as the day progresses.

Bubba,

Do you ride a white Z1000?  Does it have powdercoated wheels?  Were you out riding last fall over at A&M Farms?  Maybe a friend road a FZ-09 that day?

Just curious.  I sometimes find that we live in a ever shrinking world and you never know who you will run across in the "real world".

Not sure where A&M farms is but I bought Scuba's "creamsicle" Zed1K last summer and I do have a bud from the east side of Cinti who rides a graphite FZ

Maybe small world...

Sweet. I have a buddy that rides a Honda Shadow 600 from Georgetown.

I just went through Batavia earlier today...not on two wheels but 4.

Sunday is looking to be some good weather. I could meet up with anyone in the afternoon.

Just let me know.

Well, I finally have my front tire issue resolved on the VTX.  So, I am good to go with either style of riding.  However, I have been riding "The Beast" so far this season.  Just yesterday I took a quick spin down 73 to 785 in Belfast over to Fairfax on 247 and back up to Hillsboro.  It was too nice of a day to pass up after work.  I know I should have been working in the mower and mowing the grass, but sometimes fun wins out in my book.  LOL
