Have known previous owner for 20+ years. 2006 919 w/15k miles. Within the last 3k miles:TiresBatteryBrake fluidStainless linesPAIR ModDebaffled exhaustCoolant flushSynthetic oil (900 miles on change)Spark plugsBrake padsFork seals Mechanically perfect. Runs and rides great I will call appearance 7.5 out of 10, and I am PICKY. Owner before my friend sprayed the engine flat black so while taking that off the engine it removed some of the factory paint. Minor, but I would paint it. THere is a small ding in the tank from handlebar install. Has speigler stainless lines, LP undertail, Factory Honda accessory flyscreen (unobtanium and probably worth $200), Renthal ultra low bars. The SV is a great first bike IMHO, I am sure many here would likely agree with me on that. Either way good luck on finding a good first bike for your son.
