My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim and those injured.

Be very careful if you join a large ride. This accident was cited in a safety message I received today at work.

Google Maps view of the accident location. You can see the shed on the right (south) side in the news coverage, from the north-west bound view.

Beware the "Weekenders."  The bike sits under a cover

in the garage and is only let out on sunny weekends,

to ride among a gathering of minimally active riders who

think a long ride is across town to a restaurant.  Their

skills remain mostly undeveloped with safety awareness

residing on the back burner of their motorcycling world.

I think 90% of drivers and riders alike follow the vehicle ahead of them much too closely.

I try to remind myself of this and leave more room in my car, let alone when I'm on the bike.  It's not worth rear-ending the guy ahead of you, or getting rear-ended when you stop faster than the person behind you realizes.  Leaving more room can only help.

condolences to the families of all those affected by these incidents.

Lol... I like to ride a cruiser now and then as long as it's got decent power...hell I owned one for part of a season and really enjoyed it...my 1100 shadow was a fun bike for what it was....but I don't think I ever really was a cruiser people.
