DerekClouser
So after a long hard look at what my next bike should be, I feel the Z1000 is the best option for overall price, comfort, insurance, power. With my budget, I'm looking at 03-08. Anyways, I've already got a couple bikes to go look at. Anything specific to the Z1000 I should be looking for that may be different from other bikes? Any specific Z1000 flaws I should be looking for when I look at the bikes?

ScubaCinci
I like the 2010+ alot. Never ridden an earlier one.^^this...my 2010 was the best bike I ever owned. I only sold it because I needed something with a more relaxed riding position due to knee issues. You should be able to find a glut of them relatively cheap soon when people unload before the season ends. My only gripe with the bike was the smallish tank (get about 120mi before needing fuel, the light comes on right around 100mi). Keep an eye out here - http://www.z1000forum.com/forum/ Edited September 2, 2014 by ScubaCinci

ScubaCinci
The one in Cinci has urban brawler pipes on it which are ridiculously loud. I had a set for about a week...they are basically straight pipes.
Tpoppa
The one on Rochester CL is a good deal as long as it checks out mechanically. I drove to Rochester a few months ago to buy my VFR.

dustinsn3485
There's this one down here where I live. I feel like it's a fair price with room for negotiating. http://nashville.craigslist.org/mcy/4602116397.html
tweak740
the first gens are the best imo I had a 03 just watch for cracked welds on the frame where the forks mount. It's common for them to crack on the 1st gens, it's a easy fix for any decent welder though.
