Who ever condones looting?

The morons who looted and rioted have nothing to do with the underlying incident involving an (allegedly) unarmed man being shot and killed by a police officer.

If it went down the way the witness(es) describe, I think people have a right to be outraged.   That doesn't give them the right to loot or threaten the officer's life, but outrage is warranted.

Id say the bigger issue is the looting effects people who are completely innocent and had nothing to do with it, unless they only looted that police officer's house.

I agree that, if things happened like the reports thus far have claim, people have every right to be outrage but theres a right way and a wrong way to handle things and looting isnt the right way.

I think we all agree that the looting of stores is idiotic, at best. But I'd disagree that the looting is a bigger issue than what appears to be ...if the reports are true...that this kid was basically executed, no matter what he did prior. If he gave himself up and the cop followed him, stood over him and emptied his pistol into his back...then yeah. That's a bigger problem.

Film crew went looking for the action and found it. Not surprised. Probably set up right in the middle of what was about to happen. So then they become the news. More news that isn't news.

They were outside of the restricted area the police had setup.

The press has a right to be there.  Why would the police care if it was being filmed unless they have something to hide?

But to some security experts, this much is certain: the actions of police made things worse.

"You're in trouble when your SWAT team is on the front line of dealing with a civil disturbance," Gen. Russell Honoré said Thursday.

In 2005, Honoré was dispatched to New Orleans to lead recovery efforts after Hurricane Katrina, when the federal government said it was facing "urban warfare." Honoré famously told authorities to lower their weapons, and defused the tense situation.

"I've seen this done successfully in the past where you have your front line policemen on the front until people start throwing things. Then you have your riot control squads in the back," Honoré told "CNN Newsroom" Thursday. "The tactics they are using, I don't know where they learned them from. It appears they may be making them up on the way. But this is escalating the situation."

The police there are out of control tear gassing the press and peaceful protester's while the looters (mostly out-of-towners) have been running rampant all over the place since this all started.

The whole situation is so Fing stupid and I am so Fing tired of all the BS surrounding events like this.  Here's an idea, let's destroy our city and where we live because we are mad, cuz that makes sense.  People now a days are so stupid it's amazing.

FIFY

In this case, police created and then escalated the situation.  The rioting is certainly stupid, but that reaction wouldn't have happened if not for the actions of the police.

I am a law abiding person with the exception of being a compulsive speeder on 2 wheels.  But, the older I get the more distrustful I am of police.

Police corruption has been unchecked for far too long.  Violation of civil rights has become standard operating preceedure for many departments.  There are certainly good officers out there, but the number of bad ones is higher than anyone is willing to admit.  And how are you supposed if the ones you are dealing with are good or bad?

I am distrustful of police.  I would be genuinely fearful if I were a young, black male.

Ohio man killed by police at Wal Mart for carrying a BB gun.  Yes, this was a BB gun sold at Wal Mart.  The man was buying it when killed.  Oh, and he was black.
