Far Down the Slippery Slope

The world’s only ‘married’ lesbian threesome are expecting their first child.

Doll, Kitten and Brynn, from Massachusetts, were joined together in a marriage-style ceremony last August and are expecting a daughter in July.

Kitten, 27, is pregnant after undergoing IVF treatment using an anonymous sperm donor, and the trio eventually plan to have three children — one for each of them.

The plan at the moment is that Kitten will bear all the children — possibly using her wives’ eggs and donated sperm — but they are open to other options, such as adoption.

Brynn, 34, says: ‘The hope is to have three kids altogether. We always joke that the children should never outnumber the parents.’

Doll, Kitten and Brynn Young married in a ceremony in August 2013, when each of their fathers walked them down the aisle. All three women wore white wedding gowns and exchanged rings.

The so-called ‘throuple’ worked with a specialist family lawyer who drew up the paperwork and drafted the ceremony so that all three of them were obligated and bound to each other .

While Brynn and Kitten are legally married, Doll is handfasted to both so the threesome are as equally married to each other as legally possible.

In other words, this three-way lesbian marriage is not legally recognized by state or federal law — yet. But it would be interesting to see any advocate of gay marriage make a legal argument against polygamous marriage. By the way, “handfasting” is a neo-pagan marriage ceremony, common among devotees of Wicca. (Once upon a time, witches were hanged in Massachusetts.) This story about Brynn, Doll and Kitten is so weird, I’m tempted to dismiss it as a publicity stunt or, perhaps, a desperate bid for a reality TV series contract, but who can doubt how far this fanatical devotion to Equality and Progress has gone?

Is this to be considered as standard fare for the USA or has the LGBT community gone too far?

I have often wondered if the gay marriage debate wouldn't end up at this point, looks like it has.

Of course as soon as people are considered married without regard to gender the next question would be...

How many wives or husbands would you want? Or maybe a little of both?

How exactly does this affect you?

Well, speeding is illegal and I get tickets for it. Polygamy is illegal, and Mormons have been prosecuted for it. Why is it okay to break the law in this instance?

FTR: I could honestly care less. As I've stated before, I don't think the Federal government should have any say in the personal relationships between consenting adults. I'm just playing devils advocate here.

seeing how a pagan hand fasting isn't a legal marriage there aren't any laws being broken.

And what logic do you base that on barron? Gay marriage is defined as a union between 2 people of the same sex. The arguments I hear from people about "oh well then people can marry their dogs or 4 different people etc" are ignorant straw man arguments made by people who don't understand what equal rights are, or don't think they should be afforded to people who's lifestyle they don't approve of.

No, I only meant that the laws governing marriage are not applying the separation of church and state.  Since there are many religions that say what is "marriage", those should not be considered when the government determines what is legal for marriage.

Should there be a legal age for marriage?  YES.  Should someone be forced into a marriage?  NO.  Should the government deny legally consenting adults the right to their happiness?  Hell NO!

As far as dogs/sheep/parrots or anything outside the same species/genus/family/order/class/phylum/kingdom/domain/life, probably should be frowned upon since interspecies communication is an issue, so consent cannot be determined.

Marriage is at its core a legal proceeding. An ordained minister is simply a notary for a marriage license. yes, most people attach religion to it, but it's a govt sponsored legal contract. It's unique in that there aren't any other legal contracts that are also religious ceremonies, but you don't need a religious ceremony to get married. So there's your separation. People choose to mix religion in with their marriage but it's not required.

I disagree, my cat understands me better than anyone. But he is a male. So would need gay cat marriage approved.

This is not the Slippery slope.  This is basically old shit with a new twist.  Hetro assholes have been trying to have polygamy for years.  Hell there is even polygamy in the christian bible.  This 3way has only made the news because the fear mongers want to hold it up as "This is why we can't let the evil gays get married".

I have yet to meet anyone that can logically and rationally explain how me muff diving impacts anyone but my GF.
